His stunts are weak. I thought he was great when he first came out with Street Magic. But the smoke and mirrors got boring and his stunts are lame. I don't find anything entertaining about a guy living in a fish bowl for a week and then holding his breath. It's all a buch of hype. I like how his "friends" were all over the media talking about how how he was in poor medical condition and hyping the whole gig and acting like he was about to die.

It's all a big act and that's the only thing he's a master of. The only danger he had in the fishbowl was wrinkled fingers. I have never heard of someone dying form that.

That in itself is an amazing feat. How many people in the world can hold their breath for anywhere near that long? Living in a fishbowl for a week isn't nearly as impressive as that, although I admire the patience it must take.

David Blane in my eyes is one of the best performers i have seen...

its not really if it's fake, weak, lame, or what have you, but it's really just to make the audience think "wow"" how did he do that?"...his street magic is awesome....

lol...there was a joke chris rock has said at one of his tours, ...(on david blane) "America has lost it's mine, now people are falling for this David Blane, are we so desperate we fall for a trickless magician"..."What's his last trick? 'I'm in a box, and i ain't going to eat." "That's no trick, thats called living in the projects"...lol...

but anyways, i met him in New York once, seemed like an everyday kind of person, i got his autograph on his book that he published..."Mysterious Stranger"...haha....i can do his levitation..lol

View from the back at an angle, push-up with the toe you cannot see... at least that's the way the trusted Fox News Corp wants me to think it's done.

My brother said that he saw the Masked Magician "bust" the levitation illusion on tv around 6 months ago or so. The dont show you everything that happens on the streets...........He said they have paid actors on the street when he does the levitation trick/illusion and a few by-standers. He just goes as high as he can on his tippy-toes with a little hop at the end to make it look he got up there and then comes back down again. Then....the paid actors chime in. "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! DID YOU SEE THAT??!! WOW!!! I CANT BELIEVE IT!! ect....." While they grab the person next to them, normally the unknowing by-standers and they basically convince them that it is real. And so they dont look silly on tv,they just go along with it. They try to have around 6 paid actors and maybe 2-3 (unknowing)people around when they do the levitation. Even though he doesnt leave the ground, the actors make the bystanders believe it. Then they sling him up and show his feet lift off the ground when they record it in the studio and edit that into the street footage. Then........they play it on TV. :) My brother also said that they never show on TV the street mess-ups/bloopers,when people actually see that he doesnt levitate and they dont believe it or the other by-standers(actors) But..............they wont show you that sh*t :)

That's exactly right actually. He's the only 'magician' I can think of that uses actors and special effects in his tv shows. When he does his tippy-toes levitation thing, notice how they never show him? I saw his first show from 12-13 years ago, and they cut from him on the street doing his tippy toes levitation to him in a smokey studio clearly levitating 3' off the ground. I don't remember seeing the 'no special effects' disclaimer that Copperfield always used.

He uses Balducci or King Levitation techniques.

I think it's pretty safe to say that most TV is a waste of time.

I've always found it so odd how some people have such a mad reaction to magic, illusions and other things that are meant to entertain. I've been listening to some people calling into radio shows and reading some of these posts and I just don't get why some people actually get so worked up over this stuff. Real or fake or somewhere in between...it's just entertainment. This would be like getting pissed at the WWE.

In a similar situation...I held a haunted Halloween garage for trick-or-treaters last year. We had scary music and people dressed up in masks...it was very creepy but I had no one jumping out to scare people. I was really taken back by some people's reactions. Some people got down right mad and nasty, while most laughed and had a great time.

Kind of an interesting psych study.
