Would you take your 3X8 to a funeral ?

 

I kinda did already.

Feb 1998. Lost my Great Aunt at 92 years young. Still miss her.

I live about 150 miles away. I drove myself and my mom up there in the 308 mainly just so my family could see it. They all knew I always wanted one and I finally had it. (just got it 5 months earlier)

 

Did you drive it in the procession?

 

No.

Mine's black and I still wouldn't take to a funeral, but I have taken it to a viewing.

 

Waiting for someone to say it depends on the weather....

would you take your 3x8 to a fishing trip? , would you take it to home depot ? Your kids Fathers day concert at school ?

i guess you can take it anywhere it is a car - Personally, no i would not take it to any of those listed above, nor a funeral.

Why ?

 

I definately take it to an F-chatters funeral. Best way to show respect. As long as one isn't taking anything away from the deceaseds special day. I do take mine to Home Depot regularly, but won't take it to Wal Mart.

 

A fellow Ferrari owner, yes. No one else's. I think the "look at me" factor and noise is disrespectful.

 

Depends on who the deceased is. My brothers-in-law, no. Rob Lay's funeral is going to look like Homecoming Day in Maranello.

I didn't even know Rob was ill.

 

My Mondial is a daily driver, so I do take it everywhere (has even been to HD and Wal-Mart)...but no, I would not drive it to a funeral.

 

My brother was a mechanic, who introduced me to cars as "cool". Among his many rides, he was best remembered for his '67 Camaro convertible and his '66 Harley speedster.

When he died, I flew into town and rented the coolest car I could from the Hertz fleet...while a Hertz Mustang may not be much, it got the point across, and those in attendance who knew him "got" it.

His daughter got him a headstone with a Harley on it.

So, yes, in certain circumstances, I think it would be completely appropriate to drive a 3x8 to a funeral.

Took it to the viewing the evening before. It stayed at her house for the procession.

That's why I said "kinda"

 

I hope people show up in all sorts of Ferraris, Corvettes, prewar Alfas, etc, when I kick it. They can all carry yellow umbrellas, too, like Maude. I just hope I leave enough for them to have some good champagne.

I lost a friend recently, his passion was his cars and his church. He had a great collection of pre & post war Studebakers, several Avanti's including the most recent. When he passed, his family wanted the funeral procession led by Studebakers and Avanti's.

We didn't have time to transport one of our Avanti's from our weekend home so we drove the Ferrari to the funeral. When we arrived for the service we were asked to park with the other classic cars. As he procession was assembled to go to the cemetery, we were asked to be the last in the line of classics leading the hearse.

 

Some of you BETTER bring your Ferraris to my funeral. I guess I see them as a way to celebrate a guy's life, not some somber drudgery ritual.

 

There's always the Marco Evaristti : artist of Ferrari Forever who was looking for somebody to embalm & ship around the world in a 308GTB.

I've been requested to bring my 308 to a few weddings (including my own), but I wouldn't bring it to a funeral or wedding unless asked to.

 

I think a 21-rev salute (followed by a Ferrari Run after the funeral) would be a pretty good send-off for someone like an FChatter who was a life-long Ferrari enthusiast.

I agree that it depends on the person. I probably would not have taken it to my grandparents funeral, but I hope all of you show up to my funeral in yours (just not too soon ok?)
