Dino $$ facts

There are 7 Dinos in the new FML...all between 190 and 250 g's.........

What do we know for sure that they have traded at....not asking prices sale prices...anyone?

Me think bubble is fat and ready to burst!!

 

Wishful thinking.

I sold my Dino and got offers after I sold it for more than I listed it for.

Great cars will still fetch great money. Pedestrian cars are the ones at risk.

12k mile car sold for $200k 10 months ago. Supposedly the Coburn car sold for $220k +/-
I made an offer on another good example of $180k and was turned down flat. It sold for significantly more.

If the "bubble" bursts, it won't be because Dinos were overpriced. It will be because ALL assets were overvalued!

 

the best dinos in Australia sell for close to US$265k. My insurance company recently revalued my car for that amount

 

BTW...I sold my last Dino 08232 for $180,000.00 in 1989....
it would have taken 15 years to get that again if I kept it, Should have would have...
is the owner of 08232 on this site??

$180k in 1989 was alot more money than the equivalent amount today. So congrats, you did very well by selling back then

I saw the Coburn car on the weekend at Cavallino - it was stunning. The owner told me it sold for $225K and that he had other offers...he felt he sold it for "too cheap"

 

Mark, good observations and reasonable points but I'd like to offer additional clarifications on why this may be counter to what is going on

1) A SHIFT IN DEMOGRAPHIC
The Dino is now a full, fledged Vintage Ferrari and is attracting a wider demographic which is possibly a wealthier crowd. It wasn't always this way as I can recall going to Major Concours events in the 80's through the mid-90's where the Dino's were placed in the 308GT4/GT/GTS Class. Today that would never happen. Some point out that the Dino's body lines have similarity to other vintage Ferraris with aspects of the 250LM, 275GT, and 206SP poking through at points.
It is now a Classic.

2) DINOs DO IT ALL
In addition, the Dino is one vintage Ferrari that can do it all in the club events; reliably roadworthy for long trips, Qualified for Vintage Concours, and even fun on the track. Our local FCA chapter has dozens of members with vintage cars, but the vintage Ferraris that regularly go on weekend overnighters are (...drum roll please...) Dinos!

3) ONE OF THE LAST WITH RACING HERITAGE
Ferrari values are influenced by their model's association to racing Ferraris. The Dino is one of the last few to have this linkage as well as being the heartsake of Enzo Ferrari's only legit son.

4) PARTS ARE EASY TO FIND
A complete cottage industry has developed to support Dino Parts buyers and it is profitable enough to support five major parts suppliers and a bevy of setup costs to produce reproduction parts is fully profitable.

5) STEADFAST OWNERS
Many Dino owners are nuts about their cars and some even say we are more so than any other Ferrari...
Just look at Dino Pouch, ToolKit, warning triangle prices - we've got to be crazy to want these at the prices the trade hands at!




Just my opinion and I might be biased...

 

You forgot another reason, Scott - Dino's are absolutely gorgeous!

I was preparing some pictures for the local sports car club's monthly notices (postcards with "arty" sports car pictures) and thought Dino enthusiasts might enjoy this one.

One must also consider the Dino vs. the Daytona

Sure the Daytona is the "BETTER" Ferrari. But even I have said before that I wouldn't trade my Dino for a Daytona. Sure, that is self-selving, but it is the way I feel. The Daytona doesn't do anything for me. The Dino does.

I have always thought the Dino was a nicer looking car, but the again, i am biased

That makes three of us. The headlights/front turn signal lenses on the Daytona are B___ ugly, looking like they could have been designed by the geniouses at GM (and I'm not an opinionated person -LOL).

 

Too Much Daytona Bashing Here....

IMO........The Daytona coupe is PininFarinas finest Hour....

 

One other point that hasn't been made here is that its girlfriend/wife/SO-friendly. It "looks cute" its not macho and an "Extension" like so many of these cars, it doesn't carry the ego-aren't-I-important baggage a lot of these cars do.

 

The Daytona is a beautiful car Robert, its just that I prefer the Dino 246. Both are a work of art, but given the choice i would pick the Dino as Ferraris (& Pinninfarinas) crowning glory

 

Morry, did you actually talk to "Berlinetta" himself? I was wondering the sale price of the car since I was interested in it. But didnt get a chance to speak with the new owner or anybody else... I ended up with other silver dino on the lawn.
