The heater on my Dino is stuck on hot! I've checked and the cable controlling the valve has either snaped at the end where it attaches to the valve or become detached. I can't turn the valve by hand (Although I've not removed the heater yet and access to the valve is not good). I can only see two nuts holding the heater on, is this all or are there any hidden away?
i had the same problem. You can get at it and then douse it with wd40, or some other penetrating lubricant where the arm slides through the slot. Then you can close it with a pair of pliers, that will solve the problem for now. replacement parts are available from superformance for not a ton of money. DM. Managed to get the arm moving again with WD40. Reconnected the cable, but still only blowing hot. Guess I need to replace the unit.
John, My heater valve operated freely but the heat would not stop. The makings of the heater valve is a rubber diaphram which seat (or unseats) against a "lip" which is an intergral part of the casting of the valve body. This lip had erroded so even when the valve was closed, i.e., the rubber diaphram was seated gainst the lip, hot water escape passed. Remove the valve and take it apart. If this is the problem I can tell you how I repaired mine. john
These are also used on Fiats and I've seen them as low as $29 by this Ebay seller, although this one is higher. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2453035968&category=33580 Hot passenger compartments on Dinos are surprisingly common. There are a number of foam bits that seal the radiator airflow area and if the foam deteriorates over time (or restorations/painting don't replace them afterwards) then this can allow hot air to flow into the passenger compartment.
