What does the correct mirror for a '73 Dino GT look like? And, how many should the car have (not including interior mirror!)? I'm looking at a Dino in Europe that has both left side and right side mirrors that are painted same color as car and are very modern in appearance. Most Dino's seem to have one chrome mirror on driver's side only. I've even seen a car with no exterior mirrors ??!! Were mirrors an option? What replacement (OEM or other) mirrors are currently available?

While mirrors were more a dealer installed item the only ones I would really consider as correct are round chrome mirrors as seen on many cars. Black plastic or colour keyed mirrors are really not period correct at all.

Vitaloni "Sebring" mirrors (chrome or black plastic) were used on many racing cars in the early 70s, so it cannot be said that they aren't period correct.

Here is a thread on what the Dino exterior mirror looks like and how to tell it from teh common reproductions out there
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/206-246/185043-dino-diy-poll-exterior-mirror-original-repro-can-you-tell-difference.html

Only one exterior mirror was installed on the driver's side and none on the passenger's side.
I have another thread with the exact dimensions for mounting, search "Dino DIY" to see it

Most cars in Italy of that era, were sold mirror-less. It was a very clever cost cutting system.

It was not required to install one, sufficient with the interior one. Besides, the exterior ones were most often stolen along with the radio, or better yet, the whole car.

    I know. :)

    Regards, Alberto

Alberto, didn't you know it was inappropriate to steel mirrors and cars in your youth? I'm shocked!

Correct. The Dino that my dad bought in the UK in '74 had no exterior mirrors.

Ron, old habits die hard :)

If you ever come here, please let me know if you bring the Dino.
We'll advise the 'appropriate' people to steer clear of it; on a second thought, maybe. ;)
