In checking my oil, yes I still actually check it, the tiny sensor on the end fell off! glad it happened while the dip stick was out of the engine. Anyway, can someone get me a measurement from the very end of the dipstick (handle end) to the full mark on your dip stick, just want to establish a visual marker for "full'

    84 Mondial QV Cab.

    Thanks!

Should look like this for your QV (1st PIC).
My 3.2 (2nd PIC) does not have the end probe/sensor like the earlier 3.2/QV.

looking at it, I can see how it happened, Very Fragile looking

Does any one have the length from handle ( top of dipstick tube ) to the full line in Inches. I will just scribe a line or find a suitable replacement from pull-a-part and trim to length.

It's peeing with rain here and bloody cold, otherwise I'd go to the garage and check...if no one comes back at you by tomorrow I will go measure it for you :)

Has anyone ever found a conventional dipstick that will work? I wonder about using one from a 308, for example. My electronic dipstick is deactivated, and I find it harder to read than the conventional dipstick on my old 308.

Electronic dip stick is off a Fiat Uno however the length would need to be changed, but the sensor is Fiat.

Mine has never worked - it think it is supposed to activate a light somewhere in the cockpit. I do not monitor my console lights because it lit up like a christmas tree when I drove it home the first time and only provoked unwarranted anxiety. Brake failure for instance. The brakes were fine and the pads were new looking! The check engine light comes and goes. It may be seeing a "rich" mixture from time to time and there was a light sulfur smell for awhile that went away after vigorous driving and lots of carbon cleaner.

I then added 1/8 turn to the K-Jet mixture screw to add some richness out of abundance of caution for the exhaust valves. The light still goes on and off as before and there is no sulfur smell. As for oil overfill I can attest that overfill is an unlikely problem. My mechanic overfilled by one quart. I have seen oil up on the sprirals of the dip stick to no effect and I routinely shift at 5,000 rpm and plenty of 6,000 rpm.

Cold as hell 06-04-15? At first I thought the date might be European April 6th! But then I remembered an old saying from when I lived in Frankfurt. "You know you have been in Germany too long when you buy a new sweater for the 4th of July Independence Day Celebration!" :)
