What happened to the thread in GFD about people touching cars?? Seems like several threads have dissapeared, or am I missing something?

Haha, I was just reading it, then clicked on page 2, and "Cannot be found". It's seemingly a conspiracy.

In the past, if a moderator thought a thread was offensive, had no redeeming value or just adolescently stupid (not uncommon), it was locked down or deleted.

I imagine it went bye bye because of either...

A: I wrote the word ass in my response, Or
B: The moderator was tired of this Trolls posts.

The worst is spending 10-15mins writing a response to something in a thread that gets deleted. Like that one. I've had this happen in other forums.

Doesn't seem right when you have a) no flaming and b) plenty of people sharing informative/condoling stories about their cars and experiences. Maybe lock the thread, but deleting it was kind of silly - unless it got taken over by someone.

So threads about Janet Jackson's 'choco-taco' are ok, but not people telling stories about people standing their children on Ferraris, or throwing wrappers into the car?

And one of the moderators had posted in the thread! What did I miss? Is the religious right taking over our board? :D

That thread and several others were started by a banned user who was using an alias (G.G.). I took out all of the threads that he started under that alias. A bit harsh, to be sure, but I'm personally sick of this guy reappearing over and over.

Ryan, my apologies but I felt it had to be done.

Now, now, Jim, let's not give him more attention than he deserves.

I had asked this question in another thread on the main forum.

I preferred Rob's old policy of locking the threads and moving them. Kinda hard to trust the archives when threads go away. Just my freeloading $.02

    Agreed!

Wayne, LOL, I began to suspect G.G. when I read a couple of the other threads he started. I'm a little bummed though, as there was good dialog going in the "touching cars" thread.

Would also be a nice feature to have email notice of "why" when a thread is deleted by a moderator, or maybe just lock it down, eliminate the posts but leave the thread title and a reason why the info is no longer there.

Reminds me of a joke I just heard. Cop walks up to a guy humping a sheep.
"Sir, he says, I sincerely hope you are shearing that sheep". Guy says, I'm not shearing anything!

Another one- true story for the best comeback line EVER-, One night a cop walks up to a guy in a field apparently screwing a pumpkin, he says, "Sir are you screwing a pumpkin? Guy, without missing a beat says, "Oh my God is it past midnight already?" (True story!)

Actually, we can leave a reason why a thread was deleted. I'll will be sure to do so in the future.

No worries. Yikes, now I feel sheepish for having been baited to post on a troll thread.
