Well, that didn't take too long. I'm not surprised at all.

Too many stupid mistakes and not much to show for. Another rookie bites the dust.

Looking forward to see Colapinto back in the cockpit.

I'm loving Anthonelli and Colapinto. And Piastri who is fabulous leading the WDC given how young/"new" he still is.

Whilst not disputing its likely has it actually been confirmed yet (315 pm Enstone time) ?

ie Title should perhaps be Doohan gone ? not Doohan gone

 

I read it as official statement/done deal on Swiss newspaper Blick.

I remember when I went to the Miami GP in '23 and Piastri was brand new and McLaren was in the dumps, P18 P19 or so. What a couple of years difference can this make.

He is already in my group of favorite drivers I root for.

 

Yeah I'm stunned. I thought this season was a shoe-in for Lando and it will be all boring. But no. Piastri turned the season on its head. Throw in the occasional moment from Max and we have a real WDC battle at our hands.

Sadly the Ferraris have nothing to do with any of that. Oh well. I'm still hoping for a lucky strike victory by either driver. Just one.

 

Piastri and Russell are the coolest customers on the grid right now. Incredibly consistent and…… fast.

Antonelli seems to be showing flashes of brilliance but he’s just not ‘on it’ from the word go like the greats were and have been. Max was immediately fast, just incredibly dangerous for a while, as in, Pastor Maldonado levels of dangerous

 

Russell made some dumb mistakes early on (crash in Imola comes to mind). Piastri was sooner "on it" than Russell.

 

Colapinto to do 2 days of testing at Zandvoort starting tomorrow for Alpine.

 

Not only Doohan is dumped, but team principal Oliver Oakes resigns with immediate effect !

Alpine is in the middle of a storm after only a few GPs this year.

Flavio Briatore is for the moment at the head of the team.

He was in charge during Benetton ownership, and Renault later.

Under him, the Enstone team won 4 titles.

 

Gee, with Briatore stepping in, it might have made sense to keep Doohan around. You know, for some team “strategy” moves…

previous seasons aside, Russell is on it this season. Only driver to finish top 5 in every race so far this season.

So Colapinto is on a probationary period as it would seem.

 

His Williams time was hardly earth shakingly impressive overall lol. Expensive and RedBull dropped interest as well. Young drivers need more time.
