Early cars

Who are the experts on early cars? I assume someone/a few are tracking serial number with body manufacturer, and other pertinent history. Any pointers to who they are? Vince

How early?
Is the 330 considered early or the 250?

The easiest answer is Marcel Massini - I'd trust him to authenticate an "early car" before anyone else, even Ferrari Classiche.

It is not just a simple game of knowing the number stampings and matching them up but to know the history and the possibility of something surreptitious happening.

BTW - There was a serious breach of factory ID information in 1989 resulting in counterfeiting, which is the main reason the Ferrari factory had not allowed customers access to information for decades.

I am interested in 195 and 212 cars of the very early 50's, and very early 250's(58 and earlier). Thanks, Vince

 

I would think it would be a good idea to get an "appraisal" from Marcel. There are some of us who know a fair amount, but as far as I am concerned, he is the expert.

I agree, but would still say Marcel is the expert among experts as to Ferrari HISTORY.

 

i second the superlatives about marcel massini. he is very involved with ferrari chat and seems to show up at so many of the important events. if you read this marcel i have just received your vignale book. we need more source material books like this. how about doing a book on the ' touring ' bodied ferraris. i am sure an autobiography would also be very entertaining. i am sure you have many tales to tell. winter is coming. a good time to start. george [email protected]
