Just woken up by small tremor at 10:46 pm. Anyone else feel it? Always wonder if this is big elsewhere? Back to sleep...

Small aftershock, 11:05...too nervous to sleep now, lol

Felt a couple of nice rumbles here in Reno. No damage.
All the pets were on high alert though.

Got a good jolt here this morning. I’m 5-10 miles from the epicenter, and my home is on a mostly rock hillside...probably why.

I was born in San Francisco in 1953 and remember having a good shake every few years, (say 4-6 yrs) but since Loma Prieta in 1989 it's been quiet. I grew up with them and they never really bothered me, except for Loma Prieta.....that was a big mother!

I was in Walnut Creek the late afternoon when Loma Prieta hit, so like you, Bay Area living for decades...quite a few trembles. Fires, quakes, avalanches, bears, big cats, always something gonna get us up here in Tahoe

People talk about earthquakes but I'd rather have them than face 6-10 potential hurricane strikes each year.

Never mind those reports, it woke my ass up and it felt big! And my house is creaking, it doesn’t creak! I’ll never get back to sleep.

I'll take hurricanes. They can predict those reasonably well a few days out.
Enough time to move the F-car to high ground and grab the pooch & get out of Dodge!

I've lived my whole life (68 yrs.) in the San Francisco Bay Area and never been harmed or had any damage to property other than a crack or two. I don't remember anyone I know suffering damage to their home either. In 1989 the office building I worked in had several large windows break...that's it. I realize media reports can make disasters look worst than they are but hurricanes look terribly destructive and the annual insurance losses seem to back that up.

Fair point. But, I would still rather have my disaster with a little lead time and the potential to get out of the way...T

The issue now is maybe the earthquake doesn't do anything major but then a gas line leaks/power line breaks and starts a major fire. Currently the bay area has a red flag warning for this weekend so definitely no power tools working on the property!
