Red/tan flairs and chairs Dino GTS sold for $229K? Are Dinos still doing over $200K?

He was on this site around a year ago asking what people would recommend buying as investment Ferraris. I expect the Dino and the F40 fit that category, and the 360 is for fun. The transactions are very real.
    NICE!

US side markers but Euro front turn signals (and gratutious Ferrari nose badge), no p/w or a/c? Something's odd here- never seen a late chassis no. US-spec 246 with neither a/c nor p/w, and how do we explain the Euro front turn signals? Not a car for which I'd pay top dollar if I were in the market . . .

What about the odd interior door skins and steering wheel?

The e-bay thing looks strange to me too. 4 cars from only two company's, [that's a coincidence] he has spent $920,000 approx. check out the timings from when he won the last car to when the feed back for quick payment was given, could he have paid so quickly? I have no idea what e-bay fees would be involved, but i guess it must be quite a lot so maybe it is legit, the company he bought the first cars from had loads of feed back, it just looks odd.

I noticed that non-original stuff too, but it could be attributed to dubious taste. What puzzled me more was the inconsistency between the US-spec and Euro-spec details- clearly a Euro car with side markers (and flares) added, which indicates serious bodywork at some point.

My car was also a 1974 Euro car brought into the US in the 80's. For DOT the car had USA markers installed.

"for this money, i would have bought one of the sheehan cars or the fantasy junction car, as i think they are better quality"

I agree. I wonder why the fantasy junction car (1971 silver GT) has not yet sold. It seems like a very nice car that is correctly priced. Has anybody seen it in person?

I called the dealer who sold, he said the deal is real and he has already received deposit against it. The car is no longer available for sale.

glad to see the deal is real, sad to see that the car bought is a "questionable" car in terms of pricing and originality.

having said that, the cars being offered in europe/the uk/ elsewhere, are not being offered at asking prices anywhere near what us asking prices are. i expect that we are about to see an exodus of dino's and other ferrari's with the weak us$

I had a PPI done on a car at this shop on consignment (not a Dino). I did not buy it. Dealer felt PPI was unjustly critical, and I was too picky, to be fair. Suffice it to say, it happens that dealer and buyer have differences of opinion on quality and price.

Why would a person pay $229K when the Buy It Now Price was $189,100 for three different auctions; besides it did not even receive a bid at the starting price of $165K until the supposed $229K sale? I have been watching a dozen plus Dino's that have been for sale for three plus months now; seems to be resistance in the market.

I have seen both the Dino's at Fantasy Junction. In my opinion both nice cars that can be driven and enjoyed but not Concours winners by any means.

Amazing, not sure what the buyer was thinking!! by the way, I still have mine. Thanks for your advice Shawn, you were absolutely right on market prediction, I really listened to you and kept my Dino. What do you think the real money for my Dino is now and where do you think values are going in 1-2 years ?

I'm a little confused by your comment - have you seen the silver Dino GT at Fantasy Junction? If so, what did you think?
