Let's do an "East Coast Exhaust Champ Extensive Comb*"

I vote we get the loudest cars in the crew, we trek out to Ferrari of Central NJ (perhaps we do this on the 24th for the Brazilian GPX viewing?) and we put them up against a sound meter. We can run three "tests":

- Standing in the lot measured 6' from the back of the car

- Standing on the side of Route 1 as you drive by (You pick the speed, gear)

- Inside the car

The winners get exclusive "East Coast Exhaust Champ" decals for their whip and the undying admiration of the EC crew.

Waddya think?

*Comb defined as "To make a thorough search of, forage, ransack, rummage, scour"

I vote the event is open to Ferrari Chat subscribers of any make/model/vintage, but that's my opinion...

The 355 is generally regarded as making one of the greatest wailing sounds. In stock form, the interior noise was:

Idle in neutral: 72 dB
Max in 1st gear: 88 dB
Constant 50 mph: 77 dB

But compare that to the F50:

Idle in neutral: 69 dB
Max in 1st gear: 101 dB
Constant 50 mpb: 82 dB

yes, 101 dB. Stock! Throw a Tubi on that, the F50 is one loud car. And, to give you an idea, the numbers don't go up in a straight line. 80 dB is half as loud as 90 dB.

I think it would be awesome if you guys could break the 100 dB mark. But, I have no idea whose car would win. The Stradale is definitely loud in stock form. Do any of our CS guys have the Tubi CS system? Then, of course, we have some straight pipes, some Tubis, little of this, little of that. Sounds like a good contest

My guess who wins, but there are DEFINITELY some serious exhausts decibles in the EC Crew, esp when we include the vettes.

I'm in, but I can't touch you guys with the stone stock exhausts of the 355 or TR.

I say we just give the sticker and trophy to jim Napolis and his 330 P4 that car would crush any of ours put together and it would do it before he reached 4 grand of rpm

I wonder if I strapped Megaphones onto the headers of the 308 & bypassed cats & mufflers if I'd be a contender??? Hmmmmmmm

Anybody have sister's who are cheerleaders w megaphones I can borrow?

You guys would kick my ass, even with Tubis on my car! I'd like to come anyway though. My family has pretty much disowned me at this point anyway. Ever since I got an F-car I'm never home!!

For a minute there I thought you were talking about megaphones, like the real deal you can get for some cars like the 911. Come to think of it, I've seen a 308 with megaphones. Doug Pirrone (or Peron, I forget how to spell his name) had one...

I would like to come down to claim my sticker....those that have heard my TR with a Koenig Racing Exhaust will confirm the sweet sound and makes a Tubi sound like a stock.

Kenster needs to throw a 348 Challenge exhaust on his Challenge car. I think he could be a contender then!

Challenge! ;-)
