When I start my Speciale when the engine is cold it idles at about 1,400 RPMs for a minute or so, then it drops down to 1000 RPMs (I think). It's my understanding that when the engine is cold the faster idle uses more fuel in order to heat the cats up faster.

Lol... I get it guys, that is the downside of using your talk text feature on your phone without proofreading. So let me correct it and maybe I can get some solid answers :) (idle)

Did you have the A/C on? A lot of engines are programmed to run a few hundred rpm higher when it is on. My 348, 512tr and 458 all do/did this.

    From my personal experience:

If car cold: idle well above 1.000rpm.

If car warm and neutral with AC off: around 700rpm.

If car stationary with gear engaged: slightly higher rpm (maybe 800rpm)

If car stationary and neutral with AC on: same as above.

If car stationary with gear engaged and AC on, on a hot day: nearly 1.000rpm.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.
