To my eye the 328 is the best looking Ferrari ever. IMHO Ferrari should re-engineer a car that looks just like it, ... but up-dated in every way, fresh interior, and with an additional 100 ponies. I think it would sell like hot cakes especially if that were the car featured in the new Magnum movie.

    Has anyone ever swapped the V8 and/or tranny from a 355/360 into a 308/328?

Thanks Tillman... Nice to know that it's been done.

It would also be nice to have some more info on how it was done and how it drove afterwards.

Ford is having no trouble selling their retro sports cars. Why not an updated 328 from Ferrari?

Ferrari has a multi-year waiting list on everything (except the 612), so there's simply no need for a factory updated 328.

There is a growing hot-rod subculture in the 3x8 crowd. Check this section and the tech section for discussions of updated induction, superchargers, turbos, etc.

It's much easier to just add a turbo or supercharger to get the extra hp. You could also get it with head/cam /pistons. My sc'd 308 is now well over 500 hp and pretty quick.

That is awesome! 500hp is plenty. I'd be happy with 400hp! Any quarter mile times?

But not to be contrary, but how dependable can such highly tuned engines be? I understand the 355's engine is dependable (once you get past the bronze valve guides) and the tranny is sweet....so that was my thought.

I ask these questions but I have to be honest, I doubt I can afford to join the F-club. Just dreaming. Maybe next decade.

I've never gotten a 1/4 mile time, acceleration is traction limited up to about 70 or 80 mph.

I ran it at about 360 hp for 15000 miles without the slightest issue. then I put on a bigger SC and bumped it over 500. The clutch lasted about 15 minutes, but that's about the only time that's failed. I did struggle with the set-up for months....until I realized I had a defective ECU. I'm doing the heads now thinking there is another couple hundred hp to be found...actually I took it apart and my wife moved me to building a pation, but once the patio is done....

a clean 2Vi 308 starts around $20K. A 328 can be had at around $45k....sell the vette and you should be able to join the club without much problem.

Maybe with "extended financing" I could afford to join the club. Is ten years offered? ;-)

Currently I am building a three car garage. Someday,... something with the prancing horse will reside.

Good luck M_ke with the new heads and the patio.
