Long time FChat lurker here, looking for advice on a vehicle purchase. Have just started a 2 year assignment in Amsterdam. Looking for a car......following are req'ts:

    - used is ok and likely due to price concerns
    - ski capable, meaning only that it's able to make it to the mountains (mostly Austria) decently. I fear this excludes many RWD vehicles?
    - not a hatchback or wagon (wife no like, excludes S4 wagon...)
    - 4 seater
    - autobahn capable, hell this is FChat.
    - Sexy, distinctive, fun, reliable (standard maintain ok, just no breakdowns)

Without the mountains and skiing req'ts, I'd be 90% in a quattroporte. The rear wheel drive just makes me nervous in the mountains in winter...

    So, recommendations and considerations?

    Much appreciated,

    Tobacco

Your requirements include every car from a Mini to a Rolls Royce.
What are your ideas about price, size, HP?
A MIni Cooper Works has a maximum speed of 240km/h. Enough for you?
Do you think a QP has not enough power for the montains?
You anyhow would need winter tires in europe. At least if you want to drive in Germany.
For the Alps I would also recommend chains.
What QP did you mean? The latest model? 5,3m. In the Alps?
    I would prefer a Mini.
You will stay only for two years. Do you plan to sell the car then?
MB, BMW, VW will sell easily. A QP? You will loose a lot of money.
