My God, I wish I had my digital camera with me this evening around 7:30. I took a drive while the moon was coming up over the local hills and it was awesome!

Probably more than anything, I enjoy a 30-60 minute drive in the evening. Sometimes I loop back to the highway I just drove on where I did not see any CHP's and just open it up. Sitting back in my 308, I think 'someday I will be on my death bed and these are the evenings to remember to stave off the pain of whatever I am dying of'.

Any of you takes the same drives in the evenings and have similar thoughts (and enjoyment)?

i used to do this with my Saturn... Usually VERY early Sunday morning, like 4:30am... But i was always driving balls to the wall, so 30-60 minutes covered a LOT of ground... i usually had to do the same 3 routes to keep from getting pulled over... A lot of territory was unfamiliar for that kind of driving and probably would've resulted in a ticket... i miss it...

I go for a lot of long drives in the evenings, the main reason being it's too warm to be comfortable during the day and the A/C doesn't do much good with the top down.

Here are some pics from a drive I took a couple weeks ago. When I started out there was a nice sunset and when I returned it was a spectacular lightning show. San Antonio has some interesting weather.

    I agree wholeheartedly(for once :) ).

For me, night-time cruises on a clear night are quite possibly the best thing about owning a car. The more open air around me, the better I feel. So far, the car I've owned that was most fun for this was my black '94 Toyota Supra TT. Pop off the targa top, put it in the trunk, and go cruising. A nice light whistle from the turbos with the throttle is a good soundtrack, or some Van Morrison playing. Oh yeah.
