Exhaust Noise

We will be touring France and Germany in our US licensed car. Our exhaust has been modified. On a scale of 1 to 10 with one being stock and 10 being a race exhaust we are about a 4. Can anyone tell me how strict the police are in France and Germany on noisy exhausts? We will be there for two months traveling mostly highways between cities (we park the car in cities and use public transport). Am I asking for trouble?

 

It depends of the police.
The strict law is that the vehicle must do the noise written on the car documents.
Usually, there is no problem with our cars, but you can be unlucky and find some policeman who don't like Ferrari's…

 

Shouldn't be a problem. You have a car which is registered outside European Union. Many cars brought over from Middle Eastern countries have very loud exhaust systems and they do "get away" with it.
