Do any of you get the slow down light on but ignore it if it doesn't come on again?

I've just had one of the CATS/ECU’s replaced after the light was on continuously and on my first 10 min run after it's come back from the dealers and it's just flashed on and off.

Is this something that I should get used to or do I have a serious problem?

If I boot it every gear change will this light come on?

I certainly wouldn't ignore it. The issue might be related to the ECU sensors, which are certainly temperamental, and need to be replaced from time to time. There could be a variety of other issues as well. Take it back to your dealer, and have him run the diagnostics on it to gauge the issue.

I think it's going to get those annoying cats removed tomorrow so I don't keep having this pain in the a** problem.

As suggested, first check ECU sensors and even consider replacing one, then another on a trial basis. 9/10 times they are the culprit, as I just found out on my 98 355 F1 Sypdyer. Good luck

The car has just come back from the dealers where it went in because of this same problem.

There's no doubt that they'll take it back - this happened after close of business so I haven't called them yet.

It seems everyone advises that when the Slow down light comes on for any reason - get it checked out.

Lights do not come on because of the cats. They come on for one of two reasons. Either the monitoring systen is faulty (throw the dice, the wrong roll could cost you a car) or there is something wrong with the motor that is causing it. I know, I know my car runs great how could it be the car? Race drivers say that all the time, so do experienced pilots thats why we give them gauges and warning lights to look at.

actually if you de-cat, the light will come on. because it comes on when the exhaust temp gets high. but in that case you can ignore it, because u have a straight pipe, u do not worry about the temp.
