I am beginning an F40 sculpture for this year's Concorso Italiano and I was wondering if anyone would be so kind as to take a few photos for me.

I am interested in any shots that show the underside of the rear engine hatch. I need to see/know what type of material this piece and the rear quarters are made of. Are they straight carbon fiber twill or are they a kevlar-carbon blend similar to the interior pieces I have seen?

I am going to have the car "unravel" at speed by using the correct composite material and I want to be 100% sure before I start the process.

    Thanks in advance!

Use the search function. There are tons of photos and links to hi-res in the F40 photos thread.

Thanks, I did. I've been fishing thru that thread since last night but haven't quite found the detail shot I'm looking for. Ferrari used a variety of different weaves depending on the part and I think I might just have to track one down in the flesh to get an exact match. I've also noticed quite a different variety in the way the engine bay was finished. Some cars seem to have everything painted matte black while others have a mix of exposed composite and matte black pieces. Interesting.

There are a lot of great shots there for reference, definitely an epic thread worth viewing.

Can't wait to see the outcome, sounds really cool.

I have a lot of F40 pics (over 1000), maybe I can help you out if you describe exactly what you need.

Thanks guys! I've been wanting to do a carbon piece for some time and I figure Concorso is a good excuse.

That's exactly what I need Bill S. I have a local friend here that kindly offered his car for a in person visual so I should be good to go.

I want to make the sculpture out of the same type of kevlar weave if possible but the blend shown above in Bill S's image isn't available at any of my local suppliers. I'll have to see who I can track down that has this blend.

Awesome Tenney! Thank you so much.

If possible could you get a close up that shows the pattern of the kevlar?
