    Who do you guys recommend for servicing and upgrading an F40 in the Los Angeles Area? I really don’t want to be raped because of the car. I am planning to get one next year and I am preparing for it from now.
    Also im sure this has been asked but what am I to expect in terms of parts ect.. As far as upgrades I hear its easy to get 600hp out of these for very cheap

    F40 and cheap do not belong in the same sentance. Either you have the money for the car or you don't. Purchasing the car is only a small part of the entire equation when dealing with are car such as the F40.

    They are expensive to fix and even more expensive to modify. Updated brake are a must regardless..but that upgrade alone is big bucks.

    As for finding a shop for servicing..well you must take the car to someone who knows the model..and he is not going to be cheap. That is the price you pay for wanting to own and expensive exotic toy/sports car.

    It costs about $10,000 to gain around 60hp (540bhp) new turbo's, chips, exhaust, labor, the next 60hp will run you about $20,000 new intake, new computers, new injectors and you can expect regular rebuilds in the $30,000 dollar range.

    It is kinda the old story, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

    Tom is dead-on regarding brakes, plan on spending around $20,000 for a brake upgrade, that should include the new rims and tires you will have to buy to use with the larger brakes.

    There are good Ferrari shops in your area and F40's are very reliable, but if you want more power, you will pay.

    Now the next part is, add about $5,000 for Skip Barber Racing School, a hopped up F40 is not for a novice driver, it will get away from you.....

    How about Eric Sanders at the Auto gallery? I have heard good things about him. Just not sure about the F40 aspect. Would bev Hills be worth considering. They have quite a nice (and busy shop) over on Westgate. I also stopped at the independent over on Broadway in SM. i am curious as to their rep too.

    I just dont want an Enzo Maintenance bill and no surprises. Most cars have there little quarks and problems for each year. It seems like this car is very reliable for an exotic. Im scared of the XJ220 type stuff as well.

    I heard it it a beast and someone like me who is still learning to drive stick the correct way will need to be careful.

    I dont mind 10k here and there. Just no 80K bills and Im okay
