i was reading that the f430 would last only 2 years and hav a new model to replace it. is that true? Thank i think it was brought up before but i dont remember. thank you in advance
I am wondering where you heard this? I dont have any idea how long the run will be, but most manufacturers are forced to run for 5 years minimum. two main reasons: (1) it costs too much to develop a car, you probably still dont break even at the end of the second model year, (2) the consumers would be upset that their "new" f430 is now "old". As much as i would welcome new innovation, I would not buy a 430 at all if i suspected it would only run for 2 years. So while I am sure they are making something new, they will not disclose until 2009 or later.
They have supposedly sold out ~4 years worth of cars, with a model run expected to last 5 years, the same as the 360. If anything, it will run longer than the 360, as they are pumping out more cars. the 430 will be the highest # built ferrari by the end of its run
If above post is true, the f430 will probably become very affordable in 4 to 5 years. Probably more affordable than the 360 currently is. People that paid a premium and kept the car will cry blood (if it was a large investment for them). Ferrari prices along with its exclusivity will go down the drain. Good for some bad for others. I just hope the ferrari marque wont get dragged down to the soccer mom level like the cayenne did for porsche.
If 430's production were to last only 2 years then they would be in limited production run which I think it is very unlikely refering to the success since its launch with all the waiting list around the world.
I loved the preceding comment about how the Cayenne has dragged the marque name of Porsche down to the nadir of that of mom's soccer car. Priceless! Right On!
I think you have to see it as the 575 M. That's the evaluation of the 550. The same as how the F430 is an evaluation of the 360. The 575 will be replaced next year, so the F430 won't be built after 3-4 years also.
niek, I understand English probably isn't your first language, but just for the future, it's 'evolution' and not 'evaluation'. They sound alike though It's near impossible for the F430 to be a 2-year model run. If it were going to be (like the Enzo) then they would have announced it and sold it for a 'limited run' premium... if Ferrari can make money somewhere, they will, and they could have easily jacked up the F430 price if it were limited-run.
thanks so f-chat isn't only for learning about ferraris, but also for speaking english! (think this is correct english)
