    .

I was tooling *no pun intended* around on Ricambi's site letting my jaw drop when I noticed in the F50 catalog there were two different engine hoods available. One "Valid for US" and one which apparently is not.

    http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?M=FE&P=&V=diag&I=1779

I'm curious as to what the reason is for this. What is the difference between the two?

    Photos are welcomed!

I really can't tell. Perhaps there is a DOT mandated subframe or cross member that comes in carbon fiber on the Euro unit?

There is a third brake light integrated into the US spec cover. There several other small differences between the US and Euro spec cars, such as the front bumper chin on the US spec cars.

    Read the price quote again.

The Euro version without a third brake light costs nearly $8K more. Does anyone know why?

Maybe "Not for USA" means it comes with a year's supply of Amsterdam homegrown or a week with a sexually ambiguous coed.

.... sounds valid for the USA to me....

I don't think a brake light can make an 8K difference in price...

FWIW, I think this is a disconnect between North America pricing and factory pricing. When I look at raw factory costs, the USA one is supposed to actually have a higher cost than the Euro one. My best guess, having played this game for a while, is that with extremely low demand, only the Euro one has had its pricing refreshed in the past few years by the factory. With no booked sales of a USA one, there has been no need (or cause) to revalue the USA hatch by FNA. These posts, will certainly catch the ire of somebody with an "edit key", and I wouldn't expect the discrepancy to remain for long.

    Just a hypothesis.

So, you expect them to lower the prices on both???

Yeah, that's the ticket. Lower prices. These are the same people that RAISE prices when the currency moves in the their favor !!

Perhaps, due to FNA's interest, it would be wise to delete these posts. Their prices are obscene now, let's not make them worse.

That is how I understand the pricing to work as well. Ordered a new plexi engine cover for my old F50, price was about $8k. About 18 months later ordered another one for someone else, was quoted same price. Pre-paid the order and when the part turned up it was
$18.5 k !! The explanation was the parts prices on the computer are the last price that part was sold for somewhere in the world at some point in the past. In the case of a low volume part it may be many years old. Upon receiving a new order the part is repriced according to the suppliers current price. Very Italian system.

I priced a new lexi the other day and it was just under 8k. Apparently price has not been updated yet. Also very Italian system lol ;)

I still have my old plexi screen in the garage if you are interested. It was only replaced because of a few small marks that would polish out, no cracks or crazing anywhere.
Also have an unmarked set of standard F50 wheels.
