The rear roof spoiler appeared in production cars around 1981, IIRC,
although it was shown on some prototype show cars earlier.

It is usually paired with the black paint treatment of the front fender louvers.

Many cars from the seventies have been 'updated' as well. It is meant to fight the air pocket formed behind the rear window caused by the backdraft of the roofline, IMO. Helping upwards airflow exhaust from the engine hood via the louvers.

It is an upside down airfoil in cross section.

That bottom photo of Serpents, is an early glass car, 1976.

From lack of rear plate indentation..........

My '82 GTSi does not have one. So you should be able to find later cars with out the spoiler.

My car seems so Naked without one.

Does any place make them (aftermarket, NOT carbon fiber) ?

Seems that around $900? for OEM seems a bit steep for a non moving Ferrari part.
If you have a source let me/us know
    Thanks

Having the spoiler makes it hard to get to the front side of the engine.

My old 78 did not have one and it made it easier to work on the car.

Hi BigTex, The spoiler did not come with the car in 1977, I ask the dealer and he told me , it was a extra to order in 1980 and later on it came almost on every new car, depens on the owner if he likes it or not.308ROB

The spoiler started with the QV 308s...1982 in Europe, 1983 in the US. If you see the spoiler on older models, it was added on...it was not an option prior to the QV models.
