    couple reasons:

    we did more track miles that street, and we just don’t schedule the time to do that anymore. Different toys (boats), different priorities. It was fun but there are other hobbies to explore too. Street has also changed dramatically with texting. Every single ride involved an action to avoid someone else.

    we’re also older. I modified my bike to be obnoxious. It had high pegs and low bars (not typical monster). It had the race ECU and exhaust (you could smell the unburnt fuel if behind it at a light). I set it up to turn quickly and have very immediate controls. I didn’t want a bike that started up and everyone thought “I want to try that”. I wanted “oh ****!”

    but the days of rolling feet-up burnouts and knee dragging and crossed up wheelies are gone. We’d truly rather put the top down on the mondial and do a nice road trip through the blue ridge.

    a good heel and toe blipped downshift into the perfect corner with three people in the car going to dinner is the same as a knee on the deck. It’s the same as getting the trimaran into the perfect groove with 8 people doing twenty knots. Mechanical skill fun.

    That Paul Smart and 748 are gorgeous! They're two of my favorite Ducs. I've had a 748 and a 900 SS/SP, but haven't had a Paul Smart - yet. ;) There aren't any Ducs in the garage at the moment, but here's my low-rent picture contribution of a Ferrari along with Italian two-wheelers:
