    after a month at shop, fixing all little things, i drove my 84 400i for first time. 90+ temp. air not up to task. so i just put top down and lisened to the sound. wonderful! made about 75 miles when something stopped working. will not pull properly, except in n. is auto trans. drove home ok, but without power normally available.

    check fuel pump relays and clean contacts?

    You may also look at the fuses for the fuel pumps. Both of mine were poorly seated, and after I cleaned the connections, the car ran great. Also you should look at the wire connection box located at the bottom of the relay assembly, located at the passenger side. This is a plastic box with connectors inside. Mine burned and I have since replaced the box with a screw terminal unit. It greatly improved on how the engine is running. I think it was too much resistance in the burned out terminal box.
