Forghieri Book

I just got an email from Amazon that said that they did not know when they would have
the new English language version of the Forghieri book available.

Anyone know where one can buy this book at a reasonable price at the present time?

 

i want one two... I'll think Motorbooks in the uk may have it... Have to call them.

 

I bought a copy in Milano and, unfortunately, have no clue as to where you can get one stateside. Once you do find a copy, though, the book itself is well worth reading. It really is in keeping with "Furia" Forghieri's character: brilliant, intense, quixotic, tormented, and tormenting. All pretty much at once. I highly recommend it.

They have the English version in stock. The price was good but it is a heavy book and shipping will be costly.

I got the same message. I can't understand why it's so difficult to get this book into the US distribution system. The English version is obvioulsy out, so why not just bring it over?

By the way, the book has not been universally praised......

I just orderd the Forghieri book from MotorbooksUK ... 69GBP... be here in 4 weeks.

 

I'll wait for Amazon a little longer. For 60 bucks and free shipping I can be patient.

 

My favorite quote from Forghieri was during an interview about 10-12 (not sure) years ago when asked about the current state of F1:

"Lo sport è soffocato dai regolamenti"

The sport is being suffocated by all the regulations.

 

Based on that individual's comments, I would suggest that he stay well clear of Italy in general... The entire nation is likely to frustrate him endlessly.

I got my copy the other day, and I was surprised just how big the book is.

I've read through some passages and am enjoying it. Any book like this will have its critics, but I'm enjoying Mauro's "inside" look at the way the Scuderia worked while the old man was running the show. I particularly enjoyed the sidebar on the "Spazzaneve", which was always intended to be a rolling testbed only, was never officially called the B3, and was never intended to be raced.

People may forget that he left Ferrari in 1987 and was responsible for Lamborghini's subsequent F1 engine, and then spent time at Bugatti and other places. The book concludes with a season-by-season look at Ferrari's F1 seasons from 1986 thru 2011, accompanied by some of Giorgio Piola's marvelous drawings.

I think that anyone who followed Ferrari's F1 fortunes from 1960 thru 1986 should get a copy of this book. Now I wish that Giorgio Nada would reprint Franco Gozzi's "Memoirs", copies of which are bringing ridiculous prices on the used book market.....
