Some sporty cars never got the respect they deserve, or have just become forgotten over the years. I would put the 308 GT4 is this category. What other cars that have slipped under the radar can you think of?

    308 GT4

    280 ZX

    Wade,
Did your car have the plaid interior or was that found on just TR7s?

Yes, mine was tan plaid. Except for the wheels and fog lights mine looked almost exactly like the green one above (Poseidon Green - HAF). I need to dig out some pics...

Another unrespected car is the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. Very few people have them for serious driving, it seems like everyone else with one is a 17 year old who adds a ton of dumb crap to it.

'73 Mercury Capri.... (not mine in the picture). That was a BOMB. Very
popular in the European racing/rally scene but virtually unknown in the US.
I used to do burnouts into 3rd gear :p:p:p

One of those popped up for sale in my area recently. A week later the ad was gone.

That was my 2nd car, '74 Yellow, I put Cromodoras & CN36s on it. Was racing my friend in a Celica on Mulholland (I was way ahead), but flipped it after veering out of the way of an oncoming Bug (I was over the centerline in a blind turn). At least my friend was able to take me to the hospital, I just left the car there in the middle of the road.

I do miss it, understeer & all. Of course I'm now a much better driver than I was at 17!

I have had the pleasure of driving this 280ZX some good miles and it was excellent to drive. Very modern feeling as well. In comparison to my old e28 M5, the 280 seems much more modern. Almost along the lines of a bit softer e36 BMW with a Japanese feel.

Yepper that one is pristine and if memory serves I have not seen one in about 30+yr's. Makes me think about a Sunbeam Tiger.

The 280ZX's value is underrated in relation to the earlier Z cars. The exposed headlights always gave a hint of Jag XKE, lost with the 300ZX pop ups IMO.

The Porsche 928, also a forgotten hero, as is the rotary concept in general.

Pontiac/Holden GTO seems to have already been forgotten and it is only 8 years old.

Another rare performance car many don't know exists is the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Spyder. It was only made for a couple of years in limited numbers. Easily the most expensive Mitsubishi ever sold in the US.

Totally off the wall, but I bet most whippersnappers have never heard of a GMC Cyclone.
