I found this little guy in the house today. I think it got in through the plumbing vent on the roof and down the pipe and into the toilet. Because that's where I found it.

I did a little search on the net and it seems to be a gray tree frog, but what do I know. I could have picked this thing up on my south American travels.

    Anyone know?

Disregard the dust this little guy picked up from the corner.

Eating it is not an option. First off, it's a Mcnugget..... and second, the wifey will kill me if I harm one webed toe on this lil guy. Unless it's a SA death frog. Then all bets are off.

John, if this is the licking kind, I'll ship it up to you. "Purple Haze"

Don't know what kind he is but he's a cutie. Check Petersons Guide. Those books have most every critter pictured. Some of the most beautiful frogs IMO are the poison dart ones. Maybe you shouldn't lick him either...

We found one of the little ones that change color the other night. He was on our wooden post fence, and I walked right by 4 times without noticing him. My son spotted him when he moved slightly. Wish I had shot a pic. He blended in perfectly with the grayish wood. Neat.

I see bull frogs outside all the time.

This is the first I've seen this type.

It is a tree frog. It's exact specification I can't make from the top of my head. What is your question? I used to manage a reptile shop so ask away as far as questions.

P.S. your best bet is to let it go outside as tree frogs are very finicky and it can be hard to try and keep a wild caught one alive.

from what I can tell it is a gray tree frog. they can go from green to gray and when they are green have the gray lines like in the picture. http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/narcam/idguide/hylavers.htm

Where I live we have squirrel tree frogs they are bright green with white bellies and climb all over the windows and doors. You can sit by the doors and watch them eat the bugs by the lights.

    Thanks Ike,

That was my question. I wanted to release it but wanted to make sure this wasn't some South American thing that hitched a ride in the luggage. I didn't want to release it and have an international incident.

Thanks.... it will be free tonight.

I believe that Ike is right but it definately is not a South American or African frog so feel free to release it. I was thinking that you were trying to keep it as you didn't state your intentions in the first post.

How come almost everytime I open the cover to my pool skimmer and a frog jumps out it scares the crap out of me? Like I know it's going to happen.

    Uh oh,

Bad news.......... I think I know why he was so quiet.

The lil guy was still where I left him this AM. I thought he was just using his protective technique of stillness. But, I was wrong....

    ........ don't tell my wife.

Here's a tip. Live frogs are seldom dusty.

Good point.......... he was a bit dusty.

I thought it was an attempt at camouflage.
