Hello all... I am luck enough to have a F430 for a couple of days soon,
just curious as to what fuel people use/recommend?

    Shell V power 98 or V power racing 100?

I asked a Ferrari tech and he said 98 is best, 100 is no good because
    of the 5% ethanol factor.

I think Mobile 8000 are the best around, to my knowledge Shell petrol are the worst, loosing something like 1 ron per week or something.

well i dont know about that...but i have heard the quality of shell 98 can vary somewhat, and it contains additives which some cars (and motorbikes, etc) do not like.

on the other hand, BP/Mobil is very consistent

then again its not even your car andypoo so just whack whatever you can find in!

bloody hell you guys are a bunch of ignorant idiots!

if you don't know the answer apart from the rumours you hear around the traps, why comment?

VPower is NOT the old optimax.

They're all good and you won't have a problem with any of the 98s, but the Vpower racing 100 has ethanol. I wouldn't use that, personally.

I'm always wary Safeway/Caltex petrol so I refuse to buy it. I'm pretty sure their Vortex is 96 ron and Vortex98 is, well, you know... Does anyone know about it's quality, consistency or additives?

In my non scientific research, and completely biased opinions..

I agree with the above about Optimax, my car never liked it as much, EXCEPT V-Power has been good.

I still feel like my car goes best on the Mobil and BP though.

Nothing to back it up other than how I think my car runs.

EDIT - my old motorbike HATED Shell, but loved Mobil.

I used to use Shell, an found it very inconsistent. If the F1 team are using it, it ain't the same stuff!
BP opened up close to home, put a full tank of 98 oct in, and as they say the rest is history. I agree, nothing scientific, but the car is noticeably different, and if my memory serves me correctly Kerrari had a similar gripe about shell, chewing up plugs like they were minties.

I have used and compared various fuels that are readliy available in my local area in my STi WRX
Optimax ( Now V Power) BP Ultimate 98 and Vortex.
For the Subaru, best results - on Dyno and in terms of mileage and "seat of the pants" is BP Ultimate 98. To a certain extent this is because the engine management system can run more ignition timing and boost before the knock sensors stop the party.
Vortex/Optimax both produce less power/ worse mileage. I won't use Ethanol blend fuels like V Power Racing.
