Try to lift the nozzle 1-2 inches next time and see if this helps.

Sometimes I find this a problem, sometimes not. I feel it's got as much to do with the sensitivity or speed of the pump as it has to the F car. It sure can be a right pain in the $ss when it all goes wrong.

 

I always though it was to do with the two tank system as the fuel takes time to flow into the other tank. When I get the first click I wait a few moments before continuing.

 

The problem was worse with my 355.
Yes pulling the nozzle out an inch or two can help. I had to fill the 355 by hand as even the slowest setting wouldn't work.
On the plus side this will give others more time to admire your car while at the gas station.

 

I remember a recent thread regarding this and replacing the fuel vapor filter (#1 in the diagram). Seemed like a costly remedy to fueling your Ferrari slowly. I have never been able to completely fill my tank in my 360. I don't mind.

My 430 does this depending on the gas station I go to, the BP pump over here seems to flow much faster than at shell, BP clicks off every two minutes whereas at Shell I can fill the car at full speed without it clicking off. An annoyance but nothing else.

I found that turning the nozzle 180degree so that it is now pointing "down" works.

 

I use two approaches:

1. Dont go full-speed, The auto handle catch (so you can fuel hands free) usually has at least 4 settings from slow to full speed. I use 2 or 3, so fast but not full speed.

2. As "lilleprins" states; Insert the nozzle 100%, then pull it back out 1-2 inches.

This combination usually works for me.

New issue:
My favorite local gas station, the one I usually use because they are close to my house and keep iced beer by the cash register, have $$ limits per purchase!

Station#1: Caps my fueling out at $50 USD so I can not fill up completely. This was not an issue until gas prices went ballistic.
So I switched to Station#2, a little less convenient and no iced beer at the register.
Station#2: Caps my fueling purchase at $85, once again I cant fill up if my fuel light is on. Not with gas here in central Florida at $4.29 for 93oct.

 

If you are regularly running your fuel tank to almost empty (or, really, to less than 1/4 full), you are asking for big problems. My advice, fill up when you get below 50%.

 

Count yourself lucky - we pay US$185 for an 85 litre fill over here!

I don't agree with post above about filling up again when hitting half. I've always pretty much drained and topped of any car I've ever owned and have never (ever) had a problem. Just imagine what rubbish would accumulate in there if you adopted that policy over several years!

 

I only put in 8-10 gallons at a time and wait until that's gone to add more. It makes the car faster (as if it were not fast enough already).
