Fantastic photos of Zehender in his 8CM, chassis #3006.

But be prepaired that -almost- nobody here is interested as QPIII are currently a very very en vogue here....!

Zehenders used the car for speed trials in the Monthlery-circuit near Paris. Little later the car had a very confusing history. Its believed that it was returned to the Factory and converted to a 2-seater.
It was in the 90s owned by UK-dealer Chris Drake who raced it in various hist. events.

Today the car is owned by B.P. in the USA.

    Ciao!
    Walter

Walter, Do I understand that you are looking for a Qport lll? Why are you always talking about Qport lll? There is another thread for that. :)
    Those really are great photos.
Was there anything taken at the factory in the mid 60's? or 70?
    Ciao,
    FGM

I don't think I have a photo of Zehender driving a QP III in my archives, I will have a better look and if I find one, I will post it specially for you Walter....

This is Zehender and #3006 in the Montreux GP 1934. The car now is a 2-seater.

Fantastic photos! Thank you for sharing.

I'm interested in the drivers "suit" and the mechanic overalls/jupmsuits.bibs etc. Is that a Pirelli patch on Zehender's suit??

    Nice!!

    ~Ciao

    Hello Angus
I take care of 3006 and would like very much to have a dialogue about your photos.
This 8CM has a long race history, both in Europe and South America.
The early years are a bit vague but perhaps your photos will help.
Thank you for your post, and yours Walter.

    This is incorrect.

The car pictured in wbaeumer's photo is not 8CM 3006 - it is an older Tipo 26 chassis, which at that point was fitted with the 4 cylinder engine 2012, which was actually 2500cc.
The car also appears in Angus' 2nd picture, taken, unlike all the others, at Montlhery in July 1934. By that time the car had been fitted with an 8C 3000 engine.

The car in question was and still is much discussed amongst many historians.

Interesting is the 2-seater specification. Seems that its the same car Taruffi used in Monaco 1934. According to Crump (with photo) this car was chassis #2012.

    Ciao!
