Alright...I think I got confused. My financial guy told me to buy "gold bars", but I bought gold cars instead..... Finally had time to get the two vintage V-12's out for some photos. I bought the GTC a year ago and acquired the Queen Mother this April. The GTC is oro chiaro met. and the 365 GT is oro nashrullah. Both in their original colors. Very similar colors when you look at them side by side. Both wonderful running machines.

Only 24 of the 627 330 GTs where the original color is known was painted gold. This is about 60% of the production, so ~40 would be the extrapolated number of original 330 GTs in gold. So a pretty rare color, no matter what the model.

There was a 275 GTS in gold owned by a family friend (Art Allen) in Castro Valley, Calif. He bought it used from Grsiwold in Berkeley, Calif. and later traded it in on a new Pantera in Hayward, Calif.

Would think that there were not many original oro 275s but have not been able to find out what became of this car.

Any number of things could have happened. Re-sale red, sold to another corner of the world, has become a "lost" example, etc. I have some interesting tidbits about how Art bought and sold the car that someone might be interested in.

Although I am UK based, I have a picture taken in 80's at Beverly Hills Ferrari of me standing next to a Gold Testarossa - if anyone on here now owns one, PM me and I'll dig it out, scan it, and email it over.
tried to take a couple of pics of the collage - but didnt come out to well - see attached

How many Testarossa in gold? not many I suspect. Seem to recall that the H gate and otehr bits inside had been gold plated rather than chrome? - but it was a long time ago....

If I remember correctly, one of the first 250LM's Ed Niles brought over and had serviced at S&A in the 60's was gold...... Ed... ?

At any rate as an eighteen year old Sal let me drive about 20 yards across the shop's parking lot... a memory I will always have.

    Cheers,
    Chuck

That LM should be 5909GT which Ed sold to then later bouht back from Sonny Bono. The car had been originally red. Seemingly everyone owned this car at least once: Chinetti/NART. Bob Grossman, Knoop, Payne, Epstien, Obrist, et al. Last I knew it was again in the Berkely area but it may have since wandered on again.

It may also be the most times restored LM too.

I spent time with it during Epstien's ownership.
