    Greetings, fellow Ferrari Chatterers!

I first became aware of Ferraris in the late 1960s from a fishing buddy and fellow graduate student who had been a Ferrari mechanic. He sang the cars' praise loudly, and I fantasized about them from that point on. But they were always out of reach.

Last year, they became not so out of reach anymore. So I started thinking about buying one, and I narrowed my interest down to 360s and 550s. I talked about the idea with my barber, who is also a car nut. He pointed out that the longer I waited, the less time I would have with it, or at least the less time I would have before I became too old and tired and ill and sick and stupid* to drive it properly. I thought that was a good point, so when a nice 360 came along for the right price, I bought it.

I bought it just in time for winter to curtail my driving, although along the Colorado Front Range there are enough nice days in the winter to permit some driving of pampered cars, especially as my Ferrari's tires don't care whether it is cold or not. I have put about a thousand miles on it since I took delivery in October, including one trip in October in the mountains where I could drive it more or less as God, or at least Enzo, intended.

I look forward to many more such trips in the coming warmer months.

    Bill
