Anybody ever changed the hight of the Head Rest on the seats? Do they come out? How far can they be moved?

Mine only raise about 2" or so; not really enough to make a difference. If they can be raised another inch or so, I would love to know.

Here's how to do it on a 1986 328, but I'll bet 308s are similar. First you have to remove the panel on the back of the seat, which is, in true Ferrari form, pop riveted on. Then remove a few of the hog rings at the top of the seat leather to allow you to pull it away some. Dig into the foam padding where you will find two hairpin clips that hold the headrests in. Pull them toward the center of the seat. The headrests will them come out. I put mine back in without these clips, and they stay anywhere you put them. Pardon the weird color on the photo. The headrest doesn't really look like that. -Steve

On my recent purchase they were STUCK down with years of leather treatment!

As I am tall I had to stop at lunch, borrow some silcone at a Harley Davidson dealership and after lubing them, hit them from side to side until they freed up...they all got a kick out of that.

Not so much for comfort but for safety they shoud be set to match your head, the rise about 2.5" or so......

I can picture the scene! :)

My 1976 GTB has the seat back panels secured with screws.

Not really necessary to remove the back of the seats.... At least on my '79. I just went out to the garage and checked, but if you go to the left seat (driver side for most..) start where the inboard post goes into the seat (right post); move down about 2 inches and back to the center (left) where the post should be; you should feel the pin that is mentioned in the above post. You can then push it in to move the headrest up or down.

Hmmm, do you have a photo. I'm afraid that I don't follow you. Can you get the headrest completely out, or just adjust it? -Steve

I was able to move (328) both head rest approx. 3inch up and down. Seems like the 308 seat are different.
I'm thinking to replace the seat with something custom (6'2 tall).
Thanks Steve for the instruction and pics.

In my 81 308 NA version there are detents you can push in to loosen and raise or lower the headrests. They are "accessable" from the seat back about 3 or 4 inches down and under the stuffing. Probe around, push hard, and you will (should??) find them.

I discovered this when I cut the back of the old leather off to begin rebuilding the seats.

    Good Luck

Got it. 308 seats are diffeent from a 328. Looks like they are easier to deal with, too. -Steve
