    Cleaning up engine bay etc, and have removed headers. Would like to clean them up and have them coated, Jet Hot probably. need help with original color treatment> It is a 1980 400i auto and not sure if they should be black/silver/gray or ? Any help appreciated.

    My 1980 400i would probably love a little dressing up of of her headers,also..but I'm wondering of that 30 year old soft steel can endure that much heat retention ,so I'm thinking VHT exhaust paint as the choice in this case..after all is said and done, that heat doesn't just disappear ..cats, if any mufflers, additional heat in the cabin,ect...all thoughts greatfully accepted..thank you all in advance..Jacques.

    I coated them black. I have no idea about the original finish though. I also think that black was the best option looked the best on my car.
