    Some head protection for open car motoring looks like a helmet with a rather large visor on the front. Anyone know what they are called or who stocks them.

    There are open face helmets with small visors and chin straps only and full face racing helmets, Not sure exactly what your looking for. Check out helmet manufacturers. BELL Helmets comes to me off the top of my head. :)>)! Check out auto racing helmets.......Many types,styles, prices and manufacturers to choose from. It all comes down to personal preferences.

    Just remember that cycle helmets are not sanctioned for use on the track. Auto helmets must meet different standards. SAH 2000 still useable but being fazed out. The new standard is SAH 2010. Bell makes both motorcycle and auto racing helmets. But only the SAH 2000/ 2010 racing helmets are approved for most auto club events.

    Are you looking for a real helmet that could be used with goggles in an open race car or without goggles in a closed car or are you looking for something vintage looking like what Mike Hawthorn wore occasionally?

    The helmet I am thinking off is certainly ungainly. It is mainly used for touring events, large and bulbous style. Sort of looks like a basin with large visor in front. It is definitely not made for speed. I have looked all through the web and can not find them anywhere.
