Yikes, and I thought my morning exercise would be cold because its raining.

Could someone enlighten me as to how the ice forms like that in a short period of time? Better yet where’s a link to the source page? I like the pictures but checking out the source is always good as well.

He took them then I guess?

Thats scary though, I wonder how that Mercedes is going to be doing in a few days... I mean I was surprised when I had to deal with maybe an 1/16th inch of ice of a car from morning dew around 5:30am that would of been gone by 7am. That looks like 3-6 inces of ice to me, time to break out the pick axe.

It's -6 F right now. Thats cold, even for upstate NY. I was outside for about 4 minutes, and suprisingly its not that bad because there is no wind. When its 0F with 20mph winds i really try to say inside.
I guess thats what those people get for parking next to a body of water.

Not that surprising, when you think of it. Look at the 4th pic, you can see waves splashing a bit over the wall. Add some subzero temps and wind ... and tadaaa!!! Like BigTex said ... except Geneva = Lake Leman (sp?) ;)

This is gonna be so fun to "clean up". I already hate having to remove an inch ... that's frickin bad!!! It's gonna take days. Seriously.

I was a little upset when Rochester, NY got 18+ inches and some ice on top of that. His antenna has several inches of ice. Brutal!! That is a sign to get the hel l out of there. Ice pick might damage the paint, use a blow torch instead!!

Dateline Minnesota: News tonight is talking about the war between Tower, and Embarress Minnesota, where in 1991 Embarress recorded -60F. Tower believes they were colder, but the thermometer froze. Now they have a thermometer rated to -80F and they believe this may be the year to take back the record. A week and half ago they recorded -54F. Ive personally recorded -44 just north of Minneapolis, and personally went outside at -39 to watch a clock and see how long it took the cold to penetrate my clothing. In less than minute I could feel the burning cold through every part of my clothing. Those pictures are absolutely awesome. Ive seen pictures simular to that around Duluth on lake Superior. But not that extreme.
