I feel frustrated today having to spend money on committed transport to take my car to the closest Ferrari dealer (Salt Lake, Harris Ferrari)with out sending the car.

It is scheduled to go tomorrow and the buyer called and cancelled our agreed meeting on Wednesday to have the dealer do an inspection and purchase the car.

It takes a lot of time to mail photos, talk about everything and then all wasted time.

He had a car accident but the truth is he has been stringing me along for two months now.

I never took serious action to sell the car but is unbelievable how much interest I got from members here.some of them trying to steal the car while associated with car business and some not being realistic on values thinking all the cars are worth the same.

I am debating to still ship the car to the dealer and have it sell on consignment.

I have owned the car for so long(20 plus years) I have developed a phobia having others do anything with it unless I am around personally.
On top of that I am thinking consignment might not do the car justice since I do not want to sell it for too much or too little.

Out of so many ways to sell a car like this what do you guys think might be the most trouble free and fair way for both the buyer and seller?

We all have been on both sides so all your input would be greatly appreciated.

For the one that do not know me it is a late serial (52039) 84 BBi,with all documents, being shipped new(by plane) to the US right after was built on special order to the factory(have all original build sheets)
It has one of a kind exterior /interior combo Avus Bianco /crema rosso and original not restored in great shape mechanically and cosmetically.

nice car. Peraphs you may want to post the sales price and that would avoid having price out of whack from what you are looking for and members from here to make offers that are a no go to start from.
On the other hand if yousell the car yourself, expect all sorts of offers from non interested people...

I'd love a BB like that, but I am not sure it would be financially wise to buy one for me at this time.

    Hi Mario,

It sounds like we may be like minded people. I also remember seeing a car matching your car's description. It looked amazing. My congrats on the good fortune to have enjoyed it for 20 years.

I was out tonight lettiing my good friend share the drive as I often do. It's always a personal thing and some cars I am more sentimental about. So I understand your being attached to your car. There's no denying an attachment.

As to selling it. I'd take my time if I were you. That's easy for me to say. If not very sentimental (ie. resume is required) before viewing. I would simply let the pros handle it.

Market indicators are up. Not that it matters.

I'd say hang out. Perhaps this process might make you happy in some sad sort of way. Giving is a joy, isn't it?

    Good points,thank you.

I have been going through the pages on Nathan Beehls book on BBs and there is 32 page registry on all from 73 to 84.

I can not find another car with the same color combo.
I see some with the same interior with some minor differences as well as very few others in all white exterior but not together interior exterior of the same combo.
Does anyone know if it is the only one like it.
Not that it should mean a whole lot but it would be nice to know since it was ordered this way new and always been original.
The car is prized at 145k( and will be150k consigned) and it has seen 7600 mile use, with recent belt change last year and hardly any miles driven since last service.
I always done everything by the book regardless if the car never needed all these parts changed.
It has over 15k worth of bolt on accessories that can be reversed in a few hours of bolt on work back to 100 percent original.
Wheels custom 17s ,tires, suspension and steering bushings, height adjustable stock konis and a couple of after market exhaust systems one custom and a Borla.
The original parts as well the added ones are in as new shape except tires that have age not wear.
I posted in a recent thread on BBs a video with the car running through a few gears accelerating.
Considering originality , accessories, recent sales of others real close to my prize I am thinking I am looking to sell the car at a low prize.

There is no MSDs ,restored leather or repainted exterior and all mechanical s are as it came from the factory and running very fast ans strong.
The factory stereo with equalizer is working great (and sounds suprizingly good for the vintage) and of course all the aesthetic details and upgrades from the factory on the late cars intact.

    Open to criticism.

decide your price, have a reputable shop do a PPI and then list it. say the price is firm and anyone can call to get the PPI and decide if they are interested in the car or not.

then there is no haggling, no "subject to PPI" etc. car has been checked, pros/cons discovered.

fyi, i think your price is very high. but if that is what it will take to sell the car than that is the price.

    Thank you all again.

I have a feeling the car will be sold to another member here I talked to four hours ago.
Knowledgeable about BBs and with friends that own the same plus a real person that wants to put his hands on real good original car and keep it.

Mike I will send you a pm in a couple of days in the unlikely chance that is not sold.

I am still curious to know if this is one of a kind of a color combo.

I will be staying on this chat for a long time to come since is such good fun listening to all the great and fun people here and follow up these cars.

From what I have seen lately I am willing to bet they are gathering awareness and they will be where they belong ......in comparison to dinos and such....sooner than most think.

    Car is sold!

I feel good about the home is going to ,the new owner is the type of fanatic that will keep this car original and one of a kind.

Thank you all for your kind words and advice.

I will stay around on chat for a long time to come.

As it has been concluded it is one of a kind color combo and appreciated for not being restored but original.

I never tired of this car and I will sure miss it after over twenty years of ownership.

congratulations mario! altho i am pretty sure you will be yearning for another one pretty soon ! ;)

what i was going to say prior to it being sold, is that as much as some members here dislike them, the auction houses do take some of the hassle out of the process for you. yes, they cost money, but they also can achieve some great prices as we have seen recently.

    Mario,
You have posted for some time that you were considering sale of your BBi. Finding a good home and worthy successor was probably the last piece that led to you "turning over the keys."

20 years of ownership is significant, so I for one hope you will stay involved in this section. You and Sean are my BB suspension setup brain trust, I saved many of those posts for future reference.

Encourage your buyer to be active in this section, it would be great to keep up to date on your (previous :( ) and unique BBi.

I miss it already and it has not left my house yet.

I spend a few hours sitting in the garage not being able to sleep and looking at the car.

I can not believe out of so many sports cars of any type that I have enjoyed since my thirties this is the only car that I never tired of,I do not know if it is the unique color combo ,the amazing BB shape or all of the above.......timeless!

As I said before I will be staying on the chat always and I have found lots of common ground with the buyer where we are becoming good friends so it is all going to be around for everyone's enjoyment.

I will always be happy to share what I know from all these years with this car.

I love that this thread titled "How to sell a BB" resulted in said BB actually being sold 3 days later! Now that is how to sell a BB! Congrats to Mario and the new owner.

Are we allowed to ask the sensitive question, what did it sell for?

    Good day Mario,

I have to ask... why did you decide to sell? You obviously understand and "get" what the Boxer is about along withe Passion... and so I am wondering why the sale? Are you moving on to something else, thinning the "herd" as it were, etc?

    Cheers,

    Sam

We never really 'own' these cars. In time they own a piece of us though. You can rejoice that you were a fantastic steward of the car, now passing that to another who promises to be. These things become less transactions, and more like adoptions. Good for you and the new caretaker!

Your car was so nice I actually considered it for myself (I'll probably get rid of my black BBi at some point). Glad you plan to stick around Fchat.
