Anyone making more than typical preparations for Lane?
    I'm south shore Oahu.
I just moved the 488 to higher ground. Possible 20in rain and the storm surge on top of 2.2ft high tide was enough to make me worried about my garage.
Got water, booze, food, fuel, the usual suspects all tucked in.
Latest map doesn't look as ominous but things can obviously change. Image Unavailable, Please Login

It doesn't look good, does it? I'm doing everything I can, which isn't much. Fill the bathtubs with water, get out the radio. I anticipate the power will go out and may be out for a while. I'm hoping for the best.

Moved the Ferrari to more secure parking and bought a lot of water. That is about it.

Who want to go play in the rain :)

    Stay safe everyone.

We'll be alright. Just a lot of wind and rain coming. The SUV is gassed up and should get me through just about anything.

what is the surge going to be on Oahu? I think we can handle ~4ft, much more and it'll be in the yard and house.

    From the latest NOAA update
“Storm total rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 inches are expected to be common across
the island chain, with localized amounts in excess of 30 inches...
The combination of storm surge and large breaking waves is expected to
raise water levels well above normal tide levels as Hurricane Lane
makes its closest approach. Water levels could reach 2 to 4 feet above
normal along south and west facing shores from Kauai to Maui, as well
as southeast facing shores of the Big Island, with water levels as
high as 3 to 5 feet above normal along west facing shores of the Big
Island, provided that Lane makes landfall...”

My street floods if you look at it funny.
Sandbags are going down this afternoon but given my elevation, a couple feet?, it’s gonna be a wet one.

Surf in town was fun this morning with infrequent sets and behaving winds; no “victory at sea” conditions yet.

It took me an extra day to get home. Two of our direct flights from Memphis were cancelled on Friday. I jumpseated into LA and hoped for Saturday’s flight to go. It did. Wife and kids said it was a big nothing-burger. Not to me, my vantage point was from Hong Kong, a Cat 5 just two days earlier. I’m happy to see everyone faired well. Sad for those on Maui and Hawaii.

For me, it was much ado about nothing. I had a little wind and a little rain. My town house had it worse, when it is usually dry.
