I used to fly the gassers years ago - but gave it up. Crashes get pretty pricey, and its a huge pain in the a$$ to set your chopper up again after each one...

As an aside, these things are VERY dangerous. At our local club a friend of mine was just finished landing, and then got glitched...

The chopper went to full throttle, and hit another pilot in the face. This was a .60 size, with carbon blades. The guy fell to the ground and bled profusely... His young son was watching the whole thing evolve, as was his father. You can imagine the paranoi, emotions, and sobbing. He had 4-5 huge lacerations to his head and neck, permanently disfiguring him. Friends applied compresses, and called the paramedics. Supposedly, took 15-20 minutes (field is hard to find)...

We hope he will be well...

Sh*T happens. And a .60 size with carbon blabes is just an unshrouded lawnmower waiting to cut something...

Looks like a lot of fun. When I was getting into Helis I looked into getting one of those Piccolos(sp) little eletric copter. I bet it is a blast to buzz the house.

I have an Ikarus "Fun" Piccolo. I don't know how much fun it really is. I could never get the blades balanced and get it trimmed out. I ran out of patience and it never took flight.

Unless you are a fairly decent chopper flyer, the Piccolo is impossible to fly. Been there, done that. You'll spend all your time and $$$ rebuilding it. If you get a Hirobo, buy a pack of blades, as that is all you will need! I stuffed it in my wall at 15 feet in the livingroom and the only damage was to three blades. The blades at made of foam and are $10 for a 10-pack. Tough little bird!

Tagging up Sat or Sunday at the F1 would be my only option. I wish I was there for an extra couple of days.

Congrats on flying that thing. Be careful!!!

I had a RC copter several years ago. It took virtually forever to build the thing. I finally finished it and took it to the park to try to fly it. It was suggested that I stake it to the ground with some wire, but, of course I was too cool for that. Anyways, after starting it, it lifted about 4" off of the ground then turned sideways and smashed itself into about 1,000 pieces. That was the extent of my copter ownership. Months of building it, followed by about 6 seconds of fun before destruction. Definitely not the best use of almost a grand.

THAT is not the case with the Hirobo. I spent about 20 minutes (one battery charge) hovering an about a foot getting aquainted with the pitch and turning. After that, it was easier punching the trottle, getting it in the air and doing the same. VERY easy to fly with the reciprocating blade setup. There is no tail rotor on the chopper.

    Pete,

Glad to see you're having fun with the helo.' I'll have "something" for you when we hook up. It should be a cool display piece to put next to your Hirobo.

    True

However this toy (or something quite similar), can be issued to quite a few small teams.

What is the cost of the Predator with IR Mavericks ? - $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

An item similar to this, can be built and perfected for very little cost.

The Horsefly Institute maintains an extensive archive. All ancient data is carefully cataloged and ready for instant retrieval. Our supercomputer examination data matrix is constantly scanning and comparing all current incoming data with archival data. Any discrepancies between the two are flagged for later analysis. Post number 8 activated the "flag and alarm" program. Below is the result of the analysis. Further study is warranted, and further postings will be automatically routed to a sub file for continuing photographic analysis.
