'the Countach looked like a violent argument between and engineer and an aerodynamacist, with a V-12 and styling that was eminently purposeful rather than gay pretty. The Diablo was so quick and hard it terrified motoring journalists. Bonus.

The Testarossa? An overblown proportionless monster that dated almost instantly, and then a white one appeared in a third-rate tv series. The F40; first to 200mph yes, but it didn't have a radio, Or door handles.

The Enzo can only be bought by invitation, and then it breaks down. The 575M is for your dad, while the Scaglietti looks pudgy and under-wheeled.

The Murcielago, on the other hand, has vents that rise out of the sides that make it look like an alien spaceship. You can order it in Cadbury's Purple.

Where the 360 Modena is a slightly jellyfied, almost effeminate shape, the Gallardo is all angles and taut aggression and has 100hp more. You won't find a Lamborghini with reliability issues since Audi stepped in.

You buy a Lambo because you want a fast car, not a lifestyle.

seems to me, CAR is trying to compete with Clarkson's rants & rambles about cars with their competing magazine: Top Gear.

 

Forget the hype. I want to see sales figures. The only votes that matter are the people that voted with their wallets. We'll have to wait until production ends to see how they stacked up.

 

Chris Harris of Autocar bought a Gallardo, then everyone says it's the supercar to have. When Jeremy Clarkson bought the Modena, it became the best sportcar in the world. So if one of their kind own a particular car, it must be the best. They would look silly if they write that what they just bought is not the best.

Besides, most magazine writers need to be contraversial if they are to sell their articles and keep the bread on the table.

The opening paragraph reads

Quite right, if he had he would have needed to come up with insults for Ferrari and Lamborghini.

 

The reason porsche was not mentioned was because the subject was reliability issues....Porsche has none.

 

If you can't read that material from Mr. Ford and have a little chuckle, you need an attitude adjustment.

But I'm going to wait a bit before agreeing that: "You won't find a Lamborghini with reliability issues since Audi stepped in". Long-term, if L can provide a better group of exclusive, well-designed, super-sports cars with less Ownership hassle/cost they will be very successful -- but that's easier to say than do

 

Everyone needs two cars anyway....why not one of each? Or is war more fun?

 

Agreed. The whole thing reads a bad Jeremy Clarkson impersonation. Minus the intelligence.

Some would rather own a Murcie than a P4. I wouldn't. If one would and they're lucky enough to own what they want; super. Owning what you want is what it's about. Caring about what others would rather own has never concerned me.

Caring about what critics think? The Art critic of the NYT's wrote: "His ability to draw is as poor as his use of Color." Years later when I was lucky enough to be able to buy my Renior do you think I cared about what he said?

When I roll in this I assure you I wouldn't rather be driving a Murcie and to me that's all that matters.

The Muira seems to still be holding its own at auction against the Daytona.

 

I think Napolis meant in the really upper bracket - like over $1 million. Would the Miura SVJ (probably the most valuable Lamborghini out there) even get that high?

Jim - I'm sure the colors are beautiful. I meant soft in a romantic sense. Have you been to the National Gallery in London? They have quite a colleciton of the Impressionists.

 

Brit journalists love any excuse to bash Ferrari, especially with their F1 dominance. I've observed this trend over the last few years of reading CAR and EVO, and occasionally TOP GEAR. From the cars to the execs and engineers, they only give grudging praise. I recall Top Gear ranked the top 50 or 100 most influential people in the auto industry and LDM was not included at all, despite what he has made Ferrari dominant on the street and the track. I don't recall any automaker ever doing that, other than Ferrari in the 60s.

Now they've added Lambo to the list, even though they use Lambo to attempt to bash Ferrari. I think it's aesthetic/performance envy. Fortunately the DB9 is a true world-class car, thanks to Mr Ulrich Bez and the uncommon sense of Ford to keep away. Perhaps they'll relax.

Clearly, Tom Ford has not driven the 360 CS or the 612, which both EVO and CAR praised lavishly, although he has driven the Gallardo. And in the PCOTY tests, when they compared the 360 CS to the 911 GT3 and the Gallardo, two of the drivers were drooling over the CS, and if I recall correctly the writer said, "Wait, we need some perspective here," or something to that effect. End result, the CS was not "practical" or "sensible" enough, so both the GT3 and Gallardo finished ahead of the CS. It's always something, as if the 360 is supposed to be faster than a Lambo with 100 more HP and Torque.

I'm sure the meastros in Maranello just chuckle. We'll see what happens in this next round of F-cars. The 612 is already as fast if not faster than every other F-car except the Enzo........
