My rear bonnet switch hasn't been functioning for over a year, and I just got around to buying a new switch. Unfortunately the switch was a "call" on ricambi website so figured I would just order from Eurospares. They informed me part is NLA. In messing around with switches to make sure I knew the problem, I found that the gas lid switch is the same as the rear bonnet switch other than label as my trunk opened when I switched the gas lid switch with the trunk switch. Also the switches are easily taken apart with a thin flat head screwdriver. I was planning to buy a gas lid switch and trade out the outer housing label with my old since they were interchangeable. Easy and takes 5 minutes. However, I took the entire switch apart, which again is very easy with a flat head screwdriver, and i scraped the contacts inside the switch to see if it would make a difference. Put back together and gave it a shot. Works perfectly, opened trunk 10 times in a row. I would suggest taking the switches apart and checking the contacts prior to buying a new part if one seems to fail. Be careful, there is a small spring in the housing that can fly out when disassembling. Hope this helps...

Hello Asgor - I am looking for a trunk (console) switch for a 550. I took mine apart, and there is a broken tab on the button...Appreciate it if there are any suggestions.

When you have an electrical component that isn't working or is intermittent, try soaking it in a product named ACF50, It is a Aircraft rust and corrosion inhibitor, and can be bought at many Aircraft supply stores. It dissolves rust and corrosion and leaves a protective coating on the contacts to prevent corrosion from coming back. Usually there is no need to disassemble the part. It is also a good idea to put it on electrical connections when unplugging them and plugging them back in to keep corrosion away.

The switches on the console do not have contact points that can be accessed, they have a sealed micro switch that is activated by a tab on the rocker.
