    "production employees will be put in garden leave"


    What does this mean in English

    Paid in lieu.... Basically, an extended paid (can be reduced pay) leave due to overcapacity or outright paying someone in lieu of contractual termination (can be quite long in Europe) but while they aren't actually working they are still employed and therefore unable to work elsewhere - hence being on "gardening leave"...
