I went over to Motorcars International yesterday to meet up with Randy McCall to pick up my new (to me) 1985 Nero Metallic 308 GTSi QV. It was a very exciting day for me and well worth the 6 hour drive over to get it.

It was raining and a little bit dreary out, so I couldnt take the top off for the cruise back home. Yes, I DROVE it home. My maiden voyage was 402 miles from their garage door to mine. The car ran great the whole time. The A/C was more effective than I expected. Operating temps stayed pretty steady except when I was stuck in some traffic.

I had my daughter with me and my mother (who is visiting from out of town) to follow in a chase vehicle. It was a great time having both of them with me. Unfortunately, my wife was sick and had to stay home. She is still a bit afraid of the car and has only seen it and touched the tire with her foot. She has not even sat in it as of this writing.

Randy was kind enough to take photos as I was departing. THANK YOU RANDY!!! Throughout the process of purchasing my car Randy has gone above and beyond anything that I could have expected. I can never thank him enough - his (and all of Motorcars) customer service was beyond exemplary.

Its been dreary here today, but still hot, so I have not been able to go with the top out even now. Thats what I really want to do!! I did sneak an early morning ride out to find donuts. I hope that the weather will clear up a bit just so I can take the top off, but we do need the rain and cooler temps in the area.

SO, my Ferrari is here and life is good!!!

Enjoy your car it looks great. My second Ferrari was a 308 back in 77. It was rock solid and had been in a number of major thunder storms when traveling to South Fl. for service at then Cressman's. Air condition and wiper's worked great , but the car was a bit tail happy in the rain.

Congrat! Nice car and companion! Reminded me of the 1st time I drove my 328 home, it was lightly raining, the seller asked me if I want take it home the next day instead to avoid the rain and told me that the car is never been driven in the rain before. Of course I drove it 100 miles home on that rainy day.

My daugher loved the ride!! She loved the sound of the engine when I revved it up. Then she would tell me "Go fast daddy, Go Fast!!!" So, I would downshift and let the revs climb and she would just have the biggest grin across her face. I didnt go much faster than I was before, but she heard the engine sounds and it made her happy.

Thank you all for the words of well-wishes. Today I am going to drive it to work for the first time. My co-workers have been hearing about it for the last several weeks so they are anticipating its arrival and mostly curious about it. It is probably going to stop work for a while today.

On an additional side note, I was completely unprepared at the sheer number of cell phone cameras and regular cameras that were pointed at me on the ride home and around town. It never occurred to me that would be the case. I dont mind, and I have been guilty of doing the same to other Ferraris I have seen on the road. It just didnt occur to me that others would do the same to me. I liked it!! Given the chance I will, of course, be happy to let others sit in the seats and even go for rides if the situation allows. I feel very blessed to have this car and I think that it should be shared with others.

On that note, I have contacted my local Make-A-Wish foundation and offered rides to kids who have an interest in cars. I have also told them that if they can use a ride in a Ferrari as a fund-raiser auction item to please let me know as it is something else I can do. If YOU can, I encourage you to do the same.

Very nice! Black is great because you can do partial paint work without painting the whole car.. It looks perfect from the pics but if there are a few blemishes, just know that it is easy to fix.. My car is silver so its not so easy..

Also, if you don't know already, it is recommend to use the "three bucket" washing technique versus hosing the car down with water when cleaning it. I spot clean mine. 9 times out of 10, the rust on the bottom of doors you see on 308s is from washing.

    Anyway, she looks great! Enjoy!

Best of luck Patrick, looks like you found a beauty. My 9-yr old loves driving in the car as well. Yesterday she "made" me take it for a drive.

Congratulations - especially for driving it home in the rain!!! I own a 308GTB and a Mondial QV. I drove them both home, over 1200 miles and in the SNOW. They performed beautifully. Still do. May those smiles never leave your faces!

Saw pix of that car when it was for sale. Great example of a QV! I'm sure you will have many years and miles of fun.

    Best regards,
