Terrible. My brother was stage 3/4 colon cancer and beat it. I am praying for his recovery.

I can't comment on Andretti's specific situation, but I will say that colon cancer is very treatable if detected in time. Every man should be getting a colonoscopy by age 50, and given my brother's situation, it couldn't hurt to get one at 30 or 40.

I met John when he was driving the Miller beer Porsche 962 in IMSA. His team mate was Bob Wollek, who was not the easiest guy to team with. (Don't believe me? There was an IMSA street race in the middle of which Bob actually refused to let John get in the car!)
Anyway, John was gracious and smiling on those occasions, and I pulled for him thereafter.
Prayers for his recovery and survival.
BTW: he has won in NASCAR, Indycar, IMSA and ... drag racing!

E for effort; no cigar. ;) Yes he did. Daytona. 'Wasn't the 500 so it had to be the Firecracker. 'Late '90s.... :)

(edit: 'to boot, I hadda Google and see it was '97 and I didn't know he won at Martinsville in '99)

I remember that race well. It started pouring rain right after it ended and made traffic a living hell on I4.

Wow, I looked it up and I didn't see any cup wins for him.
    Other sites show two wins.
    I stand corrected.

Very good news in today's Robin Miller Mailbag (on the Racer website). He said John is doing well and is, "back in the gym". :)
Two thumbs up for one of racing's good guys!

    Good-o for John.

    Mario fan? Of course.
    Michael? Uh-uh.
    Marco? The same.
    Jeff? eh.
    John. Yup.

Ah... 'Too late fer edit. His two wins in Florida in IMSA (Busby 962, Rolex 24 and WPB Fairgrounds, '89) made me happy.
'Course, his "fair" co-drivers Wollek and Bell contributed a tad, I guess. :)

Couldn't resist adding my 2 cents:
Mario fan? You bet! He did it all - Sprint cars, Indy/Champ cars, sports cars, F1 World Champion(!), stock cars, F5000, CanAm.
Michael? Did very well in Champ Car. Came up short in F1. Successful team owner. A tall order to fill his father's shoes.
Marco? No opinion, as I don't follow current motorsports that much.
    Jeff? eh.
John? Me too - but I would have liked to have seen more of him.
