My advice: Whoever you find, have them cut a cheap fiat key blank first and make sure it works perfectly. Once you get that far, cutting the expensive key is just like duplicating any other key.

 

Oh! One more thing. The actual length of the Stradale key is slightly longer than the Modena key. Fortunately, the guy I use spotted it and corrected.
This guy has like 25 years experience and has a shop near where I work. You could always meet me for lunch and we could go over there together and have him do it? Just an idea.

 

Alex, Mike. I would also like to make copies of my F355 key (which shouldn't be hard). I have blanks already. Is your key guy down in San Jose?

 

There was a guy that we used to use, but he is no longer cutting steel keys. We have had good luck lately at Ace on Lark/Los Gatos Blvd. As well, there is Anytime Lock and Key on Union and Camden.

 

Actually, my guy is near where I work in Pleasanton, essentially on the corner of 580 and 680. I'll ask him if he's open on Monday. It's 10 bucks a key though.

 

Rich, I'll trot down to Campbell with my steel blanks and see if they will make me the copies. I'll report my findings tomorrow.

Try Lock World on Geary blvd and Spruce st.They do laser cut keys and AAA aproved for road calls on lock outs.They even carry aftermarket and OEM transmitters and transponder keys.

 

I need to get mine cut maybe we can have a key-cutting party and lunch?

Anytime lock and key cut a steel key for me, worked great. But that was five years ago. Like Rich said, on Camden and union. Dan

I ordered Ferrari factory ignition keys for my 328 and had them cut easily and perfectly by Warman Security, 1720 Sacramento Street (between Van Ness & Polk), San Francisco. 775-8513. I just gave them the key code from the car's operator manual, and they used that to do the cut.

 

I've been to GA plenty of times, never saw any peaches like that!!!

Inside the front cover of my 328's manual is a write-in area in which the numerical code for the keys (ignition & door, I think; don't have it in front of me) is written by the factory. If you take this numerical code to a locksmith, he can punch it into his computer and have a key cut by that computer. If done on a Ferrari blank, it produces a perfect key.

Another comment: I have read some posts here where people have used generic blanks from locksmith stores. These are of course much less expensive than the Ferrari factory originals. However one locksmith compared the generic to the factory blank and pointed out to me a slight difference in the size of the ridges/valleys (or whatever they're called). He said that the generic might work, but it also might stick and/or cause wear on the lock. He recommended against it [and of course he was not selling the factory blanks).
