Anybody see this sad sight? A customer just emailed these photos too me with the following: THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU IF YOU BORROWED YOUR FRIENDS $275,000.00 DOLLAR LAMBORGHINI FOR A 25 MILE DRIVE TO PICK UP YOUR SON FROM HIS WORK. GET ABOUT 3/4 OF A MILE FROM HIS SHOP, KICK THE CAR UP TO ABOUT 160 MPH AND LOSE THE BACK END AND HIT THE CURB. FLY FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS LAND UPSIDE DOWN AND CATCH ON FIRE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THE CRASH DID NOT KILL YOU,BUT THE BAD NEWS IS THAT YOUR ARE UPSIDE DOWN AND NO ONE CAN GET THE DOORS OPEN. SO YOUR BURN TO DEATH. THE SAD THING IS WHEN THE WRECKER TURNED THE CAR OVER THE DOORS OPENED UP. HAD IT LANDED UP RIGHT THEY MAY HAVE GOTTEN OUT. MY BROTHER SENT THESE TO ME. THE CAR BELONGED TO A FRIEND OF OURS IN MIDLAND, TEXAS. Frightening. What's with 160mph on a public road? I was about the blame Lambo, but if the car flipped at that speed...
WHAT IS IT WITH CAPS LOCK AND EMAILS!!!!??? I got pics of it upside down, where it crashed. Horrible way to die, but same token 160mph on a small public road with your son and a borrowed car, wasnt the most intelligent thing to do... Pity they learnt the lesson the hard way
This is very sad and a testiment to why you need to take it to the track. A safety crew would have had a good chance of saving these people. My thoughts and prayers go out to their families. Brad
I remember seeing pictures of a 1967 Corvette that hit a tree back in the 60s when the car was nearly new. Car torn in half. Engine ripped out. Driver dead. Nothing much has changed in the modern post war era of high performace cars. Every driver thinks he was macho enough to handle the situation. Unfortunately, the last ride usually turns out to be a Cadillac hearse.
does anyone else think that the skidmarks look a little too dark for the ABS to be operating properly? reminds me of that black murci in europe where the rotor failed and caused the car to fly/skid off the side of the road
I don't think ABS would have changed the tire marks much if the car is sliding sideways or backwards... How long ago did this happen???
That is really sad. Having no way to get out, especially. I was actually thinking about this the other day, flipping over in a Lambo. There's no way to build a hinge that detaches if the car is flipped so the door will just fall off?
IIRC there was a post about this recently and the driver was a cop (or something close) as well.... I'll see if I can find the link Link: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96833&highlight=murcielago+crash
Here's an older photo of the Murcielago that was wrecked. I don't know who the child was in the passenger seat, so I blurred his face out. This picture was taken at the end of 2003. The McLaren belongs to the same person and is chassis #042. >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm 23, and I can't count all the stories "his buddy borrowed his porsche/ferrari/lambo, but only made it for a couple miles before crashing". Losing a car is meaningless when you lose a friend. Still I can't believe the door problem has no issue. Has anyone ever contacted Lambo about it? Or Ferrari/McLaren/MB, for that matter ...
good point, i also forgot that ABS only engages all 4 wheels if you push the clutch in, otherwise it only engages the front wheels
I wonder if a lawyers going to have a field day with the lamborghini and its unique doors. How can they confirm that they were still alive after the crash?
The Murcielago gear shift can be taken off and used to break the windshield or side windows. It has a point at the bottom.
How come the car lost it's back end? Did it hit something? Sounds like Murcie already had quite a few unexplainable crashes.
Speculation on this one is exclusively on the driver who had never driven a car like this and was going excessively fast and could not control what he got into He has borrowed the car from the owner The owner, I know is heartbroken.
