I'm currently in Narita doing my semi annual sim check as well as a few other things. I was reviewing my logbook for 2013.

Anyone want to guess how many landings I made in 2013?

How many landings have you made in 2013?

I'm gonna guess you did 175 landings

Will look tomorrow to get a ballpark idea of what I did. The most intensive flying period I ever did was June-Sept of '07 when I flew just over 400 hours in four months. Basically flew Quatar to Afghanistan and back every other day during that period w/ 3 landings every flying day. Nowdays my schedule is much more relaxed and probably half my time is as an evaluator and get zero seat time.

I don't keep a log book as its tracked by the military.... Of course it's more of a hassle than I thought to actually pull up the numbers myself. What was easy to pull was hours for 2013 which turned out to be a whopping 267.4 which probably works out to be around 170 landings.

Now that I'm thinking about things I'm gonna revise my guess for you. Unless you do a lot of pilot proficiency stuff in the sim I'm guessing you maybe did around 60 landings for the year but probably have way more hours than I do as you do long haul type stuff.

    Some good guesses.

    My landings for 2013.....

    29 (less than 3 a month!)

That doesn't count the simulator, where I did 11 landings in 2013.

Longest stretch between landings. 34 days

I flew 89 flights for 510 loggable hours. We split the 3 man crew hours by 2/3. So a 12 hour flight is 8 hours logged. I actually piloted 29 of the 89 flights....for the 29 landings. Excluding taxi in and out, I typically fly about 5 minutes on takeoff before putting on the autopilot, and maybe the last 10 minutes before touchdown. So 15 mins X 29 sectors = About 7 hrs for the year! And I'd say I hand fly a lot more than most guys here.

    Off to the sim.....

Doing the math... 2 rotations per week is about 100, isn't it??? :)

    Anyway, we're both way off.

Lou- I had the same number of take-offs and landings in the olden days. That is the important statistic and more than I could say for some of my friends, one of whom ejected twice, including a mach 2 ejection. He quit. Third time is not a charm.
