    Well, I had the dealer do my major earlier this year and when I asked about the water pump (which had been done at the 2015 major) they said they'd look at it and see if it needed replacement. Here I am 8 months later with a coolant leak and an independent shop (well thought of in the Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche world in this neck of the woods) says I need new water pump-engine out yet again. Lesson-always replace the water pump EVERY time you have a major done. It easy, cheap, and you are right there. I'm also changing all the hoses. I've been hosed enough!

    I would have to question whether it was done in 2015, or you've been unlucky. My cars a 92' Ts 42,000 miles and on its 2nd pump only based on age rather than failing. Speak to Ricambi as I know they were obtaining uprated versions to the originals.

    I didn't own the car until after that major was done, but there's a receipt for the pump in the file. My mechanic says that sometimes reattaching the drive belt can cause the o-ring to start leaking. I'm not sure if I'm unlucky or you're lucky, but a relatively inexpensive part with an easy rebuild sounds like good insurance to me.

    All I'll say is new/rebuilt parts fail too. It happens you deal with it.

    No lesson there. You just had a bit of bad luck. I've got a 35 yr old WP in the 85 308 and a 25 yr old one in my 95 355. There are guys here who had pumps replaced onlt yo have the new ones leak.

    Are you sure it's the WP and not just a loose clamp?

    No, they’ve got the top opened up and looks like the pump.

    Dont take the engine back out. Remove the fuel tank and fiberglass heat panel. Take the water pump out that way.
    It's not to bad a job, and no were near the cost of taking the engine out.

    Piezopaul, your avatar looks like a 355. If so, Jackie and Bill is right. You can remove the fuel tank, or if you have small hands, you can do it from the top of the engine.

    Water pump replacement is doable with fuel tank removed.
