Next Monday will be my first outing with a new lady and I would appreciate some suggestions for a lunch venue after we leave the Houston Zoo. I have heard/read that 'The Village' has a few great places to eat yet I do not know what food she likes the most. If I could get some suggestions I would truelly appreciate it as she is driving me NUTS LOL!

    tex

    PS,
BigTex I know you know so drop me a call.

There are lots of options, I like Segari's or Patrenella's, I have never been disappointed by either. They are both small, so you can hold a conversation and very unique.

You can get about anything at Segari's, seafood, steak or chicken and Patrenella's is Italian food which may go good with a Ferrari.

My Dad always enjoyed Hungry's Bistro, just west of Rice Stadium..it's nice but still "casual"...

And Kahn's Deli is a VERY small spot, but owned by the son of the legendary Alfred's Deli. Rice memorabilia is the decor.
Mom took me to Alfred's after having my childhood dentist appointments, to this day a trip to the dentist makes me want a hot corned beef or rye....LOL! Subliminal thing I guess...

If you want to go Full Glam, swagger into Hotel ZaZa (the old Warwick overlooking the park) like you own the place, the restaurant there is full formal, but a seat on the Veranda Bar overlooking the Museum of Fine Arts sculpture garden offers a lighter "snack menu"........settle into the patio furniture and act like you do it every day!

    HTH!

What is up with women and the zoo? They love that damn place.

If you go somewhere in "the village" you should hit up Gingerman afterwards for happy hour. ;)

    Good luck.

    Jason,
Crystal is a elephant NUT and knows everything there is to know about Tucker the zoo's 4yr old Asian Elephant. I have not been to the zoo in 20+yrs so she can take control of that situation and teach me. Being the sly dog I am I had this pic of Tucker framed for her but she does not know yet:

It will be a very casual date for us so a small outdoor setting and a lite healthy lunch is what I have in mind unless she wants to pigout lol. I will know more on friday as to what her preferences are for lunch so I will check back with everyone then.

Thank you everyone for your help as I need all I can get. BigTex waaz up my brotha? I hope you are well and look forward to hanging out with you again on my b-day.

You could always go Dutch (or make her pay) at James Coney Island, they're all over Houston.

Benjys in the village, its a fun atmosphere. The one on washington is alot better, but the one in the village is still a great place.

    HAHA! That's really cool. She'll think you're a real sweatheart. ;)

My friends girlfriend is a zoo fanatic too. She's had a membership for like 4 or 5 years. I laughed when I first met her and told her she was nuts. They've tried to get me to join them at the zoo the x number of times they've gone. I told them introduce me to a cute lady and I'll be happy to join them. :D

Hungry's is great and you can definitely go healthy. A lot of ladies I know think it is the best casual lunch place in town.

...and who are we, to argue? LOL!

It's just got a classy "vibe".....

I think the duct tape on my Ferrari rules it "out" but Ferda is actually under the hood of the yellow one.....encouraging...

    I'm well, thanks, .........

Definately "on" for your b-day man, looking forward to it......that's a long way out on the Calendar, we're making it one day at a time these days....but then there's the nights!

Trying to think of anything close to the zoo, but there's really not anything closer than the Village, other than the chains across from Med Center....forget those!

A shame they closed the cafe in the church right across Main from Rice, that was a cool venue!

Lunch cancelled as I dont have time for such nonsense, long story short I do have another prospect inline who is much more suited to me. Best thing is atleast I'm back in the game and have hope, you cant win if your not in the game right! I hopefully see us attending a Cars & Coffee meet soon as her kids may enjoy a few rides in Ferrari's HINT HINT!!!

    Thanks for the suggestions,
    tex
